Looking forward to seeing where Leon Sandcastle ends up going. Don't know where the heck he came from, but there seems to be a lot of buzz about this guy.

Looks like we're going to get started tonight, so there's technically no official start time, although tomorrow (let's just say noon, for fun) is when we're "officially underway."

We all know the drill, so that's why I'm not too concerned about an actual time.

Heading to bed, guys..work early in the morning.

Duff sent me his list, as he will be away tomorrow. So assuming the top 3 picks are done by then, I'll be posting his 4th overall selection for him at around 2:30 in the afternoon when I get back.

Of course, I'll check the thread in the morning before I leave. So if we're at 4 by then, I'll post it.

With the first overall selection in the 2013 entry draft, the Colorado Avalanche are proud to select, from Halifax Mooseheads forward Jonathan Drouin

Quote:
Jonathan is a player with impressive talent. He has superior puck skills and great hockey sense. We are very happy to be able to add a player of his caliber to our organization and look forward to his development with the Avalanche.

Wow. Did not expect that, but then again I'm not surprised either. If that makes any sense.

2 somewhat surprising picks in a row, after Ryan Murray went 1st last year! Seguin 1st in 2010, although it really was a toss up between he and Hall.

Drouin is a stud though!

yeah i was surprised to get first, and i like Drouin for a while now. Jones is great, but the talent in this kid is just amazing, and i just never justified picking a D first overall. In terms of Colorado they need help on D now, but they have good players coming already, and need more help on wings in the prospect pool. so i like this pick.

also it just throws a curve ball to get things going!

It would be very surprising if they made that pick irl, but they could certainly take the most talented player in Drouin and trade Stastny for a defenceman.

Drouin 1st? Wow, I mean I think he's elite but wow, I'd have chosen Jones hands down no questions asked.

To each his own though - Nice pick

With the 2nd overall pick, the Panthers are proud to select Seth Jones.

We feel this is the best player on the board and thrilled he's still available. Adding a franchise D to play with Kulikov for the next decade+ in front of Markstrom is going to make the team much tougher to play against.

With the 3rd Overall pick, the are proud to select, from the Halifax Mooseheads, forward Nathan MacKinnon

We believe MacKinnon is the best player in the draft. A complete forward whose speed, skill and work ethnic are unmatched, he has the potential to make our offense unstoppable for years to come.

Gotta run, but as per PM, Nashville selects Aleksander Barkov.

Write-up coming later, I assume.

Will PM next GM.

With the 5th pick in the 2013 NHL draft the Carolina Hurricanes are proud to select, from the Ottawa 67's...Sean Monahan!!!

We believe Sean will be acore player for us with his strong 2 way game and presence in the dressing room. We feel he has strong offensive skill to be a dominant NHl player.

With the 6th overall selection in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft, the Calgary Flames are proud to select, from Traktor Chelyabinsk in the KHL, RW Valeri Nichuskin

GM Feaster says:

"We just got the best player in the draft...again. Valeri is a physical beast who is already able to power through defenders twice his age in the KHL. He has dominated amongst his peers and been a difference-maker at every level. He is already being considered for the full senior team and the Olympics which means we will have to be patient to see him in a Flames jersey. He is a generational talent, the best Russian player since Kharlamov, and represents the beginning of a new era in Flames history-the Baertschi-Jankowski-Nichushkin top line will one day be the league's best!"

At least you're in line with what Feaster would say!
