I know a ton of people have said it before me, but I just gotta reiterate how great of a job Truman is doing taking over for Law. Freakin' hilarious GDT.

I wonder if Ricky's soon to be departure has a positive effect on the team going forward.

Well we already know it's going to start 1-0 Buffalo on the first shot. So with that being said, hopefully they can come back in this one too.

@StapeNewsday: #Isles have one G for AM skate. Poulin just landed in Buffalo, will back up Nabokov tonight. DiPietro departed last night.

Rick is officially out of the building.

I can't believe they didn't get a local guy to stand in for the morning skate. I do it for the ECHL Las Vegas Wranglers opponent when they have a goalie called up while en route to Vegas. It's a blast.

I don't understand why Cappy continues to punish this kid by sitting him out for playing well.

[QUOTE=Bexlyspeed;60292439]i was listening to the backhand shelf podcast on friday and justin bourne (bobs son and former sound tiger) told a story about his father in law (Clark Gillies!) being sent a questionnaire by the isles to see if he was qualified to become the head coach!.

Gillies called his friend Lindy Ruff and had him fill it out! gillies submitted the questionnaire and the islanders loved his answers!, obviously though he didn't become the coach

Of course not. We only hire unknown AHL coaches.

Once again Cappy dresses the soft line up and tonight it will come back to haunt them. Buffalo is a physical team. Scott and Kaleta like to stir it up and throw tons of hits. Kaleta will take a run at a few of our guys Martin will step in and Scott will be after Martin. We dont want Martin fighting Scott although Martin would do a better job then Finley we dont want Martin getting hurt. Scott throw to hurt people he has already put Thorton on the shelf for 2 weeks.

too bad, if they were not going to sit KO would like to have seen ullstrom in for aucoin on a line with with frans and bailey...seems like a good fit.. what did ullstrom do to get in the doghouse? do the coaches really think he is the 13th best forward on the team based on play?

Good, he should benefit from our stellar D and build some confidence.

I'm the furthest thing from a Capuano supporter, but I really don't understand what you want. The only "tough" option is to put Boulton in the lineup. Capuano feels that it's better to have 12 serviceable forwards in the lineup rather than a guy who will play 3 minutes and may or may not fight.

I know Ulls isn't a tough guy necessarily but he plays a chippy, physical game. He could only make the team more physical.

Apparently Mikhail Gorbachev will be in the lineup for the Sabres and Steve Scott will be out.

Also, Anders Seeky will be in for TJ Broman.

That lineup was terrible. We did not deserve to win, why keep it the same?

The Sound tigers twitter announced that DP has cleared and the Isles have signed Steve Valiqutte to a PTO so I don't know if Poulin will be up for so long...

DiPietro cleared waivers and was sent down. Valiquette is Bridgeport's goalie coach and he signed a PTO with them so he could back up Reiter for the Sound Tigers for their game today since Ricky won't be there on time. Poulin is going to be our backup for the rest of the year, barring any injuries.

Beacause Capuano is a joke. He doesn't really know what the hell he's doing behind the bench. Case in point, seemingly every time there's a tv timeout he has what ever Reasoners line is on the ice for the faceoff. Sometimes Reasoner wins the faceoff, but when he doesn't it's just a 75 second shift in the Isles zone. Or having the 4th line take shifts with 4mins left in a game were trailing. Or pulling the goalie with almost 2 mins left and we haven't even gained control of the puck in the offensive zone yet.

The fact that we're only 3 pts behind the Rags for 8th actually makes me even more upset he's still our coach. If they put an actual NHL coach behind the bench who knew in game strategy, how to motivate players and who should and shouldn't be playing(Okposo) we might have a chance at staying in the race all year. However, this team consistantly comes out flat, plays from behind and seems complelty disorginized. We won't find ways to grind out enough tough wins to compete all season with that boob sitting back there in over his head.

Sean Scott is a big guy with a big stick, happy to not see him in.

Would be nice if they won tonight and tomorrow to get back to .500 before the Bruins game on Tuesday.
