I have a feeling if Neal started moving his feet and Malkin moved the puck faster, that line would improve dramatically, despite who the other winger is.

Crosby made Cooke and TK look like they were the French Connection compared to Malkin's line right now.

What did you say about Neil in the Ottawa game? (Honestly curious)

The only message sent was that Penguins' stars are fair game to take out, which granted isn't such a revelation.

Shero keeps re-signing MacIntyre, but Bylsma won't play him. Bylsma is a four-line coach until he dies.

This is more on Bylsma than on Shero, imo.

Hey, I'm a Pens fan, so I said Neil is an *** clown for doing what he did. At the same time, I'd change my tune 180 degrees if he were a Penguin and did that in defense of a Penguin.

Best example for me is Kasparitis. He's a SOB until he's your SOB, then it's o'k.

Neal went to the box after that thinking he was going to get a penalty

While agreeing in isolation, I think that is like saying they would be better if they were playing better.
I suppose that is the way to look at things if you argue that none of the reasons I gave matter at all though .

I just think Dineen's reaction is pretty funny when compared to the reaction on here.

"We didn't do anything, no one responded!

vs.

"our player was attacked for making a clean hit."

IMO it's not a specific response to this incident that's bothersome, it the total package of going from "a team that's hard to play against" to a team that gets pushed around nightly.

When, when was the last time Orpik light anyone up that you can remember?

Look at what happened to Kunitz after his goal, nothing called, and contrast that to the Flyers game when we had 5 players on the ice in the crease trying to flop n the puck , and no one bothering to put a guy on their ass, get in their face or play physical at all.

I have to say I was shocked at it myself. Even Lange & Bourque seemed like Neal was gonna go off. But I guess for Florida's sake it's better taking none than what some refs do and take both.

Also, when was the last time you saw the goalie's name twice in reference to penalties. Fleury took a tripping and drew the goalie interference. Speaking of, Lange said it was Kopecky's second time getting too close to Fleury and that was why the refs called it, but I wonder if drawing attention to it like MAF did helped.

The last time I can think of was Brent Johnson for fighting and crossing the red line.

It's Rossi, so take this with as many grains of salt as you choose ...

Some teammates spied Evgeni Malkin walking normally late Friday night.

That was a far greater development for the Penguins than their 3-1 victory over the Florida Panthers at Consol Energy Center.

It's hard to tell from the replay if his head snapping back is a result of the force he hit the boards with or a reaction to the pain of hitting the boards. To me, it looks more like a reaction. Then again, I could be looking with an eye towards bruised and sore rather than something more serious.

Kathryn Tappen (and her ample bosom) asked Jamie McLennan - "Does Pitt have the depth to move forward without Malkin?" McLennin's answer "Oh yeah absolutely"

I'm not so sure about that - he said there was plenty of depth with Neal Kunitz Crosby to "suck up minutes" and then talked about Malkin's value ES, PP and on the PK as well. Does Malkin kill penalties??

No they really just need Kunitz back, when Crosby gets a first line winger.

Failing that, Shero needs to trade for a second line winger, or this team will be in trouble come the postseason.

Forget about the head snapping back. People are making too much out of it. I'd bet real money that he just got the wind knocked out of him and nothing more.

And as far as being soft? That's management's fault. You want to eliminate all types of hits that lead to potential headshots and writing open letters to the League? You have to put up or shut up, and unfortunately this organization took the former.
