I watched that game in my buddy's basement while we were shooting a rolled up sock around the room.

It's weird how you have a few moments in your life where you can remember where you were at that precise moment. This was one of them, and I am obviously not even American.

But I was cheering and jumping around like I was for that day.

I am Canadian and it is still the most awesome hockey moment I have ever witnessed. And we know we have witnessed a couple biggies here in Canada so that is saying something.

Thanks for posting it here, will try to make time to watch the whole think this weekend. One of those moments before my time I've never been able to watch, but have heard so much about.

Do it. It is worth the time.

The difference now as opposed to 1980 is, of course, the political climate (which is why for Canadians '72 and '87 are so meaningful), but no one can dispute the importance historically from strictly a hockey standpoint, either.

Unbelievable how bad the ice conditions were back then. The rink looked like the size of a football field.

Watched it live here in Canada......I did so only to see if the U.S. could keep it remotely close...I expected a 4-5 goal margin....

Not only the greatest moment and upset in Hockey history but arguably in all of sport history.

It would be akin to Canada beating Brazil in football and then going on to win the World cup.

Amazing moment in sports. I was very young and don't remember anything but my mom going berserk.

EA should have added a Miracle mode to NHL 13.

Yep, in fact maybe even bigger than that. Because the Soviets were for all intents and purposes a pro team that would have been as good or better than any NHL team at the time, the fact that a bunch of no-name kids beat them...is remarkable.

More like a bunch of Canadian college kids beating Brazil in soccer, when you think of it...

Amazing. I thought they did a great job with the movie a few years ago, too.

Look at Herb Brooks' face after the Eruzione goal. He knew something special was happening.

I still get shivers when I hear Al Michaels say "Do you believe in miracles?" It transcends sport.

I'm having a hard time finding their schedule for the year but if I remember correctly they actually shutout a team of NHL All-Stars before the olympics.

Take team Italy or Poland or UK or Japan or something and play Canada/US/Russia or any other national super power and see how you do. If you actually win, miracle accomplished.

i wasnt even born yet....watched this before, and its not only IMO what we all love in sports but that hit on such a deep level, not only on a american level but a human level.....david vs. goliath, hard work and desire vs. raw talent, and it being a hockey game makes it all the more awesome
