No thank you. Ott might be good to acquire, but not woth a 1st, to me at least. Not sure what the Sabres would want for him, although it might take that kind of overpayment anyways.

It's a good trade for the Canucks, Ott is a difference maker. He's the type of grit that could get Van over the hump.

He's not the problem on the Sabres so I doubt there is anyway he is available.

absolutely it's worth a 1st round pick to add Ott to your team, that said I don't see Buffalo moving him, very good player to have and can put up decent numbers offensively.

On one hand I say yes. I'd love to have Ott on the team.

But on the other, we have a lot of similar players on our team and we have a pretty bad rep as it is.

Either way, Buffalo would rather keep him, I imagine.

By all means he's a great player to have, I just wouldn't give up a 1st for him, any more than I wouldn't expect teams to offer a 1st for Jannik Hansen.

Personally if we had a checking 3rd line centre instead of a guy I was taller than in grade 7 I would love a 3rd line of Ott - Checking centre - Hansen would be brutal to play against. Its really to bad Lapierre hasn't stepped up to the plate in that regard (I blame AV)

That being said Ott is not worth a first. It would need to be something like Higgins/Raymond, a 3rd or 4th and a prospect.

And the answer is NO!

Although Ott would be a good fit on the Canucks. this trade would be better for everyone and more balanced:

to buff Barker, Reinprecht, 6th rd pick

to VANCOUVER CANUCKS: Ott, 3rd rd pick

Sweet . Nice proposal .

I have a better one

To Sabres

David Booth , Keith Ballard

To Vancouver

Cody Hodgson

I think Sabres might have to add, maybe Gerbe or a 2nd.

win/win

It's too bad the "counter" proposals have gotten way off base. The though is good, but I just think Ott's worth more to Buffalo than he is to Vancouver. If we can get a player like Ott, Brouwer, etc, for a decent price, I think we should do it. If not, we'll manage without one.

I disagree. Even though Barker was picked 3RD OVERALL! He hasn't quite lived up to that potential although he is still a smooth and crisp player. He could still be that good but I am willing to part with him in a deal bringing Ott to the Vancouver Canucks.

On topic though, we aren't giving up a 1st round pick unless it's game changer. Our future is looking bleak as it is with our current prospect pool, I'd hate to give up a 1st for a couple of years of Ott.

Not bad. The 6th isnt high enough.

Try this one

To Vancouver

Vanek

To Buffalo

Luongo

Luongo has accomplished far more and has a noticeably cheaper cap hit.

Sabres would have to add Gerbe or a second.

It'll be a late 1st.. similar to what NSH gave up for Gaustad.

Makes Van harder to play against, grittier, and easier to hate.

A 1st is pretty fair value for Steve Ott. Trade makes sense for Vancouver, but not really sure why Buffalo would move him. I'd figure they'd want something more than a project/pick.

Then trade him to Nashville. Maybe they are so stupid they will give you 2 first rounders this time

You would never get anything higher than a third from the canucks. We dont really need the guy. He sucks now. WE aint paying him another year of 3mil for that guy.

Hes a one million dollar 4th liner on the Canucks. On Buffalo hes a first liner, sure. Not on Vancouver he aint.

Like I said. Try Nashville. You bent them over once before.

Vancouver could desperately use a guy like Ott.

That's reasonable.

But to seal the deal the Sabres would add Pominville, Myers and a 3rd. DONE!

No need for a player like Ott because we have Tiny Tim playing as our #3C

I'm concerned for you if this isn't sarcasm.

Anyway, Buffalo's not looking to move Ott. Too important to the team. A first is nice but I'd still hesitate.

What about a conditional second?

the condition being the final draft rank of this pick.

if Vancouver make the demi-final or better, then its a 2nd.

if they doesn't do better than a 2nd round, then Buffalo give a late pick to Vancouver as compensation for the 2nd being earlier than expected.

I am fine with Ott for a first, I would love to somehow grab Erne who was Grigs partner in the Q. Mackinnon + Erne would be EPIC!

Man some of the posters in this thread are making are fan base look so bad..... I always love reading Steve Bennets posts though, most entertaining poster on this board. You go Steve Bennet! Anyway I'd be reluctant to move a first for Ott in such a deep draft. The Sabres could likely get a first from a contending team, but not Vancouver.
