I don't think philly will miss the playoffs though. I can see them stringing together 6-7 wins in a row. Their goaltending has been decent and I think they just need to get their heads on straight and pick a d-man and they'll be fine.

Thanks for the clarification, but I tend to doubt that Chiarelli is confiding his interests to Al Morgant.

I like Briere OK, but his lack of interest in defensive play has me thinking Julien isn't a big fan.

If Clode has a say, #73 is being stitched onto the back of a Bruins jersey as we speak.

Last time Ryder was here, CJ had run out of patience and ultimately benched the guy during the regular season.

So, just to confirm...your position is that we stand pat and not try to improve the team? I wasnt sure where you stood on this issue.

Was it you that had a theory last year that the only reason Ryder was playing well last year was because it was his 1st with Dallas and that he would fall back to reality this season? Maybe I'm mistaken, getting old. Anyways, Ryder is leading the stars in scoring. And to those that think he is coming to Boston, give your head a shake. No way Dallas is trading him. Chia really messed things up with that move.

he hasn't been playing well this season and I saw some posts from minny fans using him as trade bait, worth a look if you're chia is all I'm saying

anyways I see him getting someone like that rather than Briere or Iginla

I do believe that Ryder will fall back to earth for them and not be a consistent scorer for the life of his deal in Dallas, yes.

His current goals per game average of .32 isn't really an anomaly like last year's was (.43). If you averaged his .32 over a full season, it breaks down to 26 goals, which is right around what he would typically score. That's a pretty significant drop off from the 35 he tossed in last year though, no?

Right, this is the problem right now IMO. There are only 3-4 teams that are probably 'out of it' right now. And Philly isn't one of them. I think as DKH has pointed out; we'll have a clearer picture in a few more weeks with injuries, and probably within the standings too.

That said, if Chiarelli has the option to improve the team greatly before then; and at a low cost, then I think he should do it.

Lets ignore the .74 pts/gm average. The guy is doing it all for the stars right now.

Ryder is playing fantastic- to think otherwise is a joke

I wanted him out of here so for me to do a 180 shows what I think of him- I'm not talking blind Sobotka love- statues adorning the pyramids stuff; I'm talkin' Rydah....yah, Rydah....

love Nate, but Ryder is a more complete RW right now

basically, the guy made life style changes and is leaner and quicker and better

He is doing well points wise, no question about it. It still doesn't mean he's suddenly Adam Oates/Marc Savard/Wayne Gretzky all rolled into one. He's supposed to be a goal scorer, and after a season where he had a career high of goals and goals per game average, his goal scoring this year is down. It also doesn't mean that he's not a valuable member of that team. Just that he's fallen back to earth a little for scoring goals.

You know who else's goal scoring is down?

Your boy Rick Nash.

I urge you to watch them play. I have now watched 3 of their last 4 games and I am shocked by how badly they take care of the puck. They're a trainwreck in their own end (think back to when we rolled them in 2011 playoffs). Toronto made them look silly last night.

No exaggeration - if I was Holmgren I'd seriously consider firing Laviollette. The number of giveaways within 5 feet of their blueline and in the neutral zone is staggering. I know it's tempting to look at the list of forwards and assume they can make a run, but they are careless and lazy. They sit around waiting for Giroux to score. And their defense is downright terrible. They are not a playoff team.

Like 2011, I think they need 3 players at the deadline.

My guesses;

Ryder for LW

Vishnovski for PP.

Letestu or Kobasew for veteran depth.

Aside from Giroux and Simmonds he's the only guy giving them any effort or energy. I can't see any reason in the world they'd deal him.

I was never a Ryder hater by any means and I'd love to see him back on the Bruins.. however, what indication do we have that Dallas would even be willing to move him? They are still very much in the playoff hunt, are they not? Bruins would have to give up too much just to get him.. Seems like it would turn out to be a lateral move.

I think Chia has to target guys who either need a change of scenery or players who are on teams that are trending down or just flat out not going to make the playoffs.
