I haven't noticed him losing speed, but his overall play has certainly picked up in the last several games (i.e., not nearly the number of giveaways as we saw early in the season; maybe the 4 assist/-2 game was a nadir in his defensive play). If it's because he's lost a bit of speed, then I'm all for it. Anyway, hope he isn't out long term.

If it ends up being an injury where he misses a couple weeks i think it will be a good thing for the pens. You would think Despres would get a shot to play every game playing top 4 minutes now. If he wins the Norris its not gonna do the pens any favors when pens try to sign him long term. I'd much rather him not win it and i don't think he deserves it I don't think hes even the best def on this team.

You're being very pragmatic and cynical here. I like it .

Orpik Martin
Despres Niskanen
Eaton/Bort Engelland

This time around I really think we would be OK without 'Tang for a spell.

You have to get a part of your thumb cut off by farm equipment, get it reattached and then crack jokes about it to earn that nickname.

I'm not saying he's a granny out there, still one of the best (if not the best) skaters on the team. Just saying in puck races and what not, he doesn't seem as fast. If saying a gear or 1/2 step or whatever is too much, okay... I don't know what idiom to use that can better indicate he looks a lil' bit slower to me since coming back from his injury.

Missed the game and saw the injury when I got home, I really hope it's nothing serious and that he won't miss much time

I thought there was a pretty stark difference in the poignancy of the offense after Letang left the ice. I'm curious to see how they'll look with Despres essentially filling in for Letang's role.

What do you guys think the D looks like with Letang injured? My guess is...

Orpik-Martin
Despres-Niskanen
Eaton-Engelland/Bortuzzo

I dont think DB would let Despres get close to 20min of ice time, so its more likely that Eaton/Despres would rotate on the second pairing

He wasn't able to catch Kessel a couple days ago. He should have been sitting a lot sooner than this.

I'm on it now, they're talking about Andy Mcdonald right now.

Edit: DB is coming up after commercial.
