They see value in guys being around the NHL team. I'm not going to fight it anymore when it's a short stint. How short is short though? If it's Wandell's full two week assignment .... I'm not thrilled, and I'm probably *****ing about it.
Vincour has looked excellent. I don't really want to see him come back up. He was playing his role very well when they started scratching him, and you still can't really argue he should be in over Roussel or Garbuttt. All three, Vincour included, deserve to be Top 12, but that's not realistic. Hopefully he doesn't replace Fraser as the healthy scratch. I wouldn't mind Sceviour coming up and eating something healthy scratches.
When Whitney ultimately returns .... my guess is Garbutt does get pushed out. Although, he's picked up his physical and fighting game though so maybe they feel he can fill the Roussel role better now. IDK ... but it's hard to break up that 4th line.
“The one thing I’ve said about our young guys and even in the year past, you could tell who they were in practice. OK, there’s a young guy,” Gulutzan said. “When we practice now and we’re going hard the last few days and Matty’s been here, you can’t tell a difference. He fits right in and I think that’s a real good sign. He has some assets that other guys don’t have. He shoots the puck. I also think it’s real good experience for him to be here and be around the guys and get his feet wet. He’ll get in at some point.”
Who knows if that means in the next week or before he decides to retire ...
