The awkward moment when you say you haven't been PMed for any of your picks, and then don't PM the guy after you...

Anyway, Ze Jets select RB Jonathan Franklin, UCLA

The New Orleans Saints finally get to make another pick:

#19, Safety, J. J. Wilcox, Georgia Southern

The Saints signed Keenan Lewis, and are trying to sign Nnamdi Asomugha. If they don't sign him, I imagine they'll attempt to sign another DB for cheap. There's rumors that the Saints are going to add a DB early in the draft. Since I traded down in round 3 and not round 1, it has to be done now.

The Saints must continue to find opportunities to keep Patrick Robinson and Roman Harper off the field. Wilcox is said to have the athleticism of a corner, and matched up well against the FBS kids at the Senior Bowl. He also has ball skills to potentially double as a return man as he was once a running back. This will also give Rob Ryan the opportunity to move him around the field when more DB's come on the field. In a perfect world, he and Isa Abdul-Quddus will force the Saints to cut Harper in training camp as Wilcox or IAQ would presumably win a starting job.

My bad. Not like it's really made a difference since we all seem to be regularly checking the thread (not just me missing it, but me not receiving them either).

Compensatory picks have been announced by the NFL just in time for us to get to them. Do we want to add them to the draft? I do not believe these picks can be traded. Houston, KC, and Tennessee would each get an extra 3rd round pick. Baltimore, San Fran, Detroit, and Atlanta would get one in round 4. Miami, Green Bay, and Baltimore in round 5.

49ers select CB Logan Ryan, Rutgers.

Analysis
Quote:
Strengths: Enough size and strength for the position with good length. Strong man cover skills and works hard to gain body position and make a play on the ball. Athletic feet and flexible ankles to stick with receivers' hip pocket. Smooth hip movements with the footwork needed for the position. Strikes through the ballcarrier and closes in a flash with good make-up quickness to recover.

Gets physical at the line of scrimmage, doing a nice job peeking into the backfield to make plays in run support. Good timing and leaping ability to highpoint and get his hands on the ball. Strong competitor to bait throws and plays the position with supreme confidence. Smart with experience in zone and man coverage. Makes impact plays on special teams coverage. Productive with 38 passes defended the past two seasons, including seven interceptions.

Weaknesses: Lacks elite top-end speed for the position and can be beat vertically. Will play overaggressive in the open field tackle and needs to be more consistent breaking down on the move. Needs to use better eye discipline and can be susceptible on fakes and double-moves. Will allow bigger receivers to push him around. His hands-on approach and physical nature in coverage will get him in trouble at the next level.

And yes on the comp picks.

I say no, but entirely for selfish reasons, like my guy being 1 pick away and him having no friggin reason to still be available. So I'd probably be alright with it.

I added them but we can take them out if enough people don't want it. Speak now, though.

I dunno why we wouldn't, honestly. They're not tradeable assets so it shouldn't be affecting anyone's draft strategy in that regard.

Did FOTS get PM'd? Been 17 hours now.

Also, anyone thought more about doing a 2nd draft now that free agency has begun and some trades have been made. If we're going to do another one, we better start soon as the draft is only a little over a month away.

I PM'd him a little earlier today just to make sure. I'm a little more lenient when it comes to overnight picks, but that's just me.
