I wouldn't mind seeing Pominville go to a contender out west. Maybe for a 1st rd. pick and a good young D.

The top-20 scoring center is a net negative because of his supposed attitude.

The bottom six winger's positive attitude doesn't redeem his offensive performance.

Trade Leopold for a 3rdd

Trade Regehr for a 2nd

Trade Gerbe for 6th (or just throw him into another trade)

Trade Pominville for Bernier and a 3rd

Trade Stafford for a couple prospects

Trade Miller in the summer for a package of young guys/prospects

Why would Buffalo trade Pominville or Miller? I don't see Buf ever doing this.

Honestly over the last few games Kaleta and Gerbe are the only ones I have noticed that look like they are trying. Im not married to any of them and if I was offered a third round pick for each I would have to consider it. But they are what this team is lacking and I could care less if they score thats what the top two lines and to an extend 3 rd line is for. Our 4 th line needs these two. Just my 2cents.

We could absolutely get more for the bolded. Leo is probably worth a 2nd at the deadline, maybe even a 2nd and a 3rd to the right team.

Bernier is small, unproven, and doesn't have very impressive stats playing behind a defensive team. I'd say his value has definitely gone down since being drafted, and that Pominville, with a full year left, is more more than a late 1st + a 3rd anyway.

I understand everyone loves an underdog, but the love for Gerbe is a bit much. In the offensive zone when he can bring the puck in he's always kept to the boards then throws it at the net. To play in the NHL at his size you need to be an offensive threat, but he's just to easy to play against. Trade Gerbe, leopold, Stafford, Sulzer, and Regehr.

Speaking of Gerbe, just came across this article. Some "awesome" stuff in there about the Sabres and fantasy hockey.

Nathan Gerbe could have been a 70-point player. Not any more.
In what world? There's also some points about Hodgson, Pominville, Myers, Grigorenko, and Stafford.

Seth Jones looks like a pretty solid D. Buffalo needs a guy like him.

The Ducks have piles of goalie prospects. We do have Makarov already, too.

Time to rebuild this team (like Ottawa did, not how Edmonton is).

Grigorenko is "jerking around".... yeah I'd almost rather read a Schopp article (almost)

I dont see gerbe as an underdog, he had proven he can play at any level but then he levels off. On a better team he could be a lot more effective but on this team when he gets it into the offensive zone he either throws it at the net and there isnt anyone near the net or he gets pinned against the boards and has no help. I give him crediting for getting into the zone, its an issue this team needs to figure out especially on the pp. Since this season appears shot give him a chance with the big boys, if he doesnt improve ill admit im wrong and gladly take what we can get but now he is a small contributor to a team that needs em and lacks em.

But at the end of next year, if Miller doesn't resign, is Makarov ready? My concern is that we have 1.5 seasons of Miller left at most. He seems moodier as ever here and his wife lives out West. Plus, I suspect he wants to go somewhere for a Cup run. So if that's the case, the Sabres will need a starting goalie in short order. And if you trade Miller to maximize assets rather than let him walk, then that short order becomes even shorter.

If you don't draft Seth, you aren't getting Seth. Think along the lines of the top 2 picks in the NFL draft, and what it takes to acquire those spots.

We could also put a competant d in front of enroth and hope he shakes his funk. Not my first option but it may be better then selling off assests for an even bigger unknown.

There's only one person saying Gerbe should stay. Major consensus is that he's gone if there's an offer. Just give up dude.

Makarov won't be ready. If Fasth stays awesome, maybe we could pry Anderson or Gibson from ANA(Bobkov would be cheaper, but he's a big ?). Otherwise we'll just end up dabbling in FA.

I keep hearing this "Miller's wife is out west", stuff, but there's one issue. ANA def don't need him. Quick isn't going anywhere, and Niemi is signed for 2 more years after this year. The only likely scenario is Niemi trade after Miller sign. Perhaps there's a swap at the deadline next year?????

Let the guy have his opinion. I'm with you that we should probably part, but he's supporting his arguments.

I know Buffalo wouldn't even come close to Jones or MacKinnon if they were to trade say Pominville for a 1st or 2nd rd. draft pick.
Sabres should trade Gerbe, Leopold or Regher for a player already existing in the league.

Trade with Ducks? Avalanche? San Jose?

Just because the consensus says differently doesn't mean it right. Over the summer I argued with everyone about Vanek being better than Duchene.

Kaleta is the epitome of Buffalo. He doesnt do one thing great but does a lot well he is a very good pker ..he will lay his body on the line to block a shot or create a spark for a team that needs them to often. He is a good assest to have and I wouldnt want him playing for another team. Same with gerbe his worth is higher to the sabres.
Gerbe's a AAAA player, Matt Ellis gives his all every shift too and he's not untouchable. Hell, he's better defensively than Gerbe and only has 3 less goals in 10 less games played over the last 2 seasons. Gerbe has 6 goals in the last 76 games and has the worst GF% on the team this year besides John Scott. He's been on the ice for 3 times as many goals against as goals for. He's simply not good.

So he goes from untouchable to "I'll take a 3rd round pick." Interesting. Personally, I would have waived him before McCormick but there are bigger issues to deal with. Kaleta certainly has a role on this team but he's not untouchable either.

Exactly. As long as a person is giving reasons why they believe something, I'm willing to listen. If I'm not willing to listen anymore, I just stop posting.
