Forward Lines and Production

How do people see the lines shaking out this year and what kind of production do people expect from the Bruins? Last year, they averaged 3.17 goals per game, good for third in the league. Should we expect that type of production in a shortened season?

I don't see much of a change with the lines starting out:

Lucic-Krejci-Horton
Marchand-Bergeron-Seguin
(Bourque/Spooner/Player X)-Kelly-Peverley
Paille-Campbell-Thornton

I think someone to obviously watch for is Tyler Seguin. He jumped from 22 points in his rookie year to 67 points his sophomore season, and I wonder if Claude will give him more minutes and if his points per game goes up.

Lucic and Horton are kind of question marks as well. I'm a huge Lucic fan, and I think he will do well, but I hope that all of this talk about him "not being in shape" is just talk. And Horton, although he is in a contract year, has not played in a calendar year, and it may take a while to shake off the rust.

Overall, do you think the Bruins remain an offensive force in the NHL, or will the Horton injury significantly affect them? Or conversely, will the Bruins be fine since every team has players who did not play during the lockout, and opposing goalies may not find their game right away?

Seguin's too high
Bergeron's too high
Thornton, Paille and Campbell are all too high since you have their totals in 48 games pretty close to their 82 game totals.
Horton's too low
Lucic and Marchand are pretty close, maybe a smidge high, Krejci is pretty close

I think the total number of goals you have by forwards is pretty close, at least based on last year's numbers, but the assists are too high. Your assist to goal ratio is too high, when you consider all the assists defensemen contribute. If you take away 3 or 4 assists for each guy, you get closer to the numbers each guy has had recently over an 82 game season.

Why don't you just post your own predictions instead?

Seguin 22 goals 25 assists
Bergeron 16 goals 20 assists
Marchand 17 goals 16 assists
Lucic 18 goals 18 assists
Krejci 15 goals 20 assists
Horton 19 goals 17 assists

As long as the bottom six play good two way hockey it's irrelevant exactly how many points they score

I think Peverley's production matters also, but the other 5 not so much.

82 Game paces since I can't do the math:
Lucic: 26-35-61
Horton: 31-30-61
Krejci: 19-40-59
Seguin: 34-44-78
Bergeron: 23-40-63
Marchand: 27-25-52
Kelly: 15-15-30
Peverley: 17-32--49
Thornton: 7-4-11
Campbell: 8-8-16
Paille: 12-13-25

Don't forget that 3 of our top 6 wingers haven't played, don't expect too many goals from them.

I expect Seguin to come out huge. Watch out for his superb passes.

At HALFWAY point...

Lucic - underperforming 4G 10A 14P
Krejci - right on pace 6G 15A 21P
Horton - almost on pace 7G 6A 13P
Seguin - slow start led to underperformance 9G 12A 21P
Marchand - THUMBS UP! 12G 11A 23P
Bergeron - THUMBS UP! 8G 16A 24P
Kelly - underperforming - season over - 2G 4A 6P
Peverley - underperforming - 3G 5A 8P
Paille - slightly overachieving - nice job - 5G 5A 10P
Campbell - almost on pace - 2G 4A 6P
Thornton - needs some assists! 3G 1A 4P

So at the halfway point of the season...

Here is how I rate our guys this year:

Marchand / Bergeron - A

Paille / Krejci / - B+

Seguin / Horton / Campbell / Thornton - B-

Lucic / Peverley - C

Kelly - D

Desperately need to replace Kelly with some offense (Iginla? Perry?). At least the right guy got injured...
