I don't believe any of this stuff. I still think he came up after injury a little early and Carlye sent him down to get better. In the mean time he got some good minutes from Kostka/Holzher and Fraser which meant Liles and Komo were odd men out. I think this is strictly a numbers game that will soon be rectified. He needs to move a couple of defencemen and a couple of forwards, once that happens Jake will be back with the Leafs. I think guys are reading into way too much here.

Rielly will be with the Marlies in what? 6 days or so? I wouldn't be suprised to see him called up then, especially with him playing so well recently

April 3rd is the trade deadline, and hopefully Nonis can pull a rabbit out of a hat and unload some of that dead weight log jam, thus opening a spot for Gardiner's return to the NHL.

Outside of unwanted injuries, Nonis' success at accomplishing his task is directly related to Gardiner's return.

If Carlyle himself read this thread I bet he'd die laughing at all the overreactions. Gardiner will be with the big club soon enough, and all the conspiracy theories will be put to rest. And in a few weeks we'll forget all about this.

Interesting tweet from Traikos:

@Michael_Traikos: I was talking to someone on Leafs' mgmt team who said getting Lupul back and possibly calling up Gardiner is like making a trade.

Absolutely. The imminent additions of Lupul, Gardiner, and hopefully, Liles, is akin to acquiring 3 impact players at this juncture.

If Gardiner was exceptional, Ranger was too.

Ranger IS pretty exceptional, he just doesn't want to play in the big leagues for personal reasons. I'm more than happy having him in the AHL to prep our youngsters.

I thought he was the best all around D man for us yesterday, he's got good size, and makes a lot of smart plays. Reads the ice well, not sure why he is not playing in the NHL, teams could use a guy like this.

Gardiner-O'Reilly is going to be beautiful to watch for many, many years. A bonifide 1-2 defencemen pairing that I don't remember the Leafs having for a long time. And they're both 19/20. It helped to bomb last year didn't it?

It was a trade. Beauchemin for Lupul and Gardiner. Just adding those two guys again.

Morgan Rielly.

Yeah, those two guys are both exceptional skaters with great vision. They'll add a whole new dimension to our team, should be fun to watch.

Rielly is a better passer, I think we will see this pretty soon.

Phaneuf - Franson
Gardiner - Holzer? Liles? Komisarek?
Rielly - Fraser

Personally I would love to see Franson with Rielly to start, In hopes that we find a suitable RH dman for Dion.

Holzer/Fraser should fight for a spot with Gardiner. (eventhough RC doesn't like Dman playing on their off side)

It would make for a very mobile yet strong pairings throughout.

Oh, no, Gardiner hasnít been recalled yet but Dreger said the leafs are trying to clear space for him finally.

Not sure how valid a source this is, but hopefully it's true.

Why should Fraser have to fight for his spot on the team? The dude has earned it, been solid on the bottom pairing not to mention he's extremely physical and a decent fighter, oh and did I mention he has a plus 13 or something? Yea sorry no, if Gardiner wants on this team he has to EARN it, but I gurantee you it won't be Fraser who loses his job because of it.

Agreed.. Fraser's job seems locked up, and rightfully so.

From what I've seen, they're decently reputable.

Lebrun thinks Nonis is trying to clear roster space via a trade to open a spot for him.

Just on TSN radio now.

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD LET THERE BE A GOOD TRADE!

We seriously need to move holzer and kostka to the bottom pairing not in the top 4.

I'm sorry if this has already been answered but

Is there any limitations to how many games gardiner has to play before he needs to clear waivers?
