Gardiner has to wait potentially another 3 weeks. My main concern though is who do we move? We are weak on the right hand side as it is, does it make sense to replace Holzer or Kostka with Gardiner?

Is there any limitations to how many games gardiner has to play before he needs to clear waivers?
I think its 3 more games (if not 4 not more than that)

*** its 3

Liles hopefully, then Gunnar and Gardiner fight it out for the last left Defence position. Fraser has earned his spot, he keeps it by merit, +17, fights, and all.

Ok what I just noticed is he has to play 3 more NHL games before he has to clear waivers, which means it doesn't matter for how long we leave him in the AHL. So I suppose technically there is no rush to bring him up.

Might be the reason the group is being so hesitant and careful on when to call him up.

Which is understandable

Holzer out and Gardiner in makes a ton of sense to me.

Sounds like it might be Holzer, but then again they just signed the guy and he's a physical player with size. Carlyle probably likes him more than we think. Gards is a better player but he'll downgrade the Leafs' physicality which is the team's "Identity".

I think they are going to deal Gunnarson. Just a gut feeling.

- The leafs still have Phaneuf/Fraser/Franson who are all physical enough to compensate the loss of Holzer, actually we were doing BETTER as a unit before he arrived this season.

I think they are going to deal Gunnarson. Just a gut feeling.
- Agreed! He just doesn't do anything to stand out and hasn't been the same player he was last year. I could see him going for a 3rd rounder at the deadline.

Recently signing doesn't change his status, he hasn't earned a full time NHL roster spot yet, he's definitely a candidate for demotion.

Just my $.02, but you don't move (for picks) top-4 dmen making 1.35 and are as efficient as Gunnarsson. Even on Gunnar's bad nights, he's better than Holzer.

You move the AHL defensemen. You're in the business of winning games.

The irony is hilarious. Who are we gonna have to trade to get Lupul and Gardiner in our lineup?

Lebrun thinks its packaging a few bodies together and land a top 3 dman. That would open up Gardiner's roster spot as well.

Just on TSN radio now.
People without sources have been hoping this out loud for quite a while. (including yourself I think) I suppose the real question is whether we believe these guys have any real insight. If we believe that perhaps we can hope something is on the front burner.

Any idea when it will be completed because we desperate need to move our defensemen for that and possible a pick or project prospect.

That would seem quite hopeful but an excellent result perhaps someone with a "largish" cap hit. Although I am not sure if I can stand the whining in here, considering what Grabo has inspired.

Would anybody do MacArthur and Gunnarsson for Clowe and Douglas Murray? Talk about a toughness upgrade!

Would also allow us to swap Holzer for Gardiner, since Murray could more than assume Holzer's physical role.

Lupul - Bozak - Kessel
JVR - Grabo - Kulemin
Clowe - Kadri - Frattin
Komarov - McClement - McClaren/Orr

Phaneuf - Gardiner
Murray - Liles/Kostka
Fraser - Franson

Reimer
Scrivens

Drooool.

Clowe is a plug. Whatever he was before, he isn't now.

Yeah, Clowe has been complete garbage. I definitely don't want him on this team. He's too slow to keep up with any of our forwards.

If the Oilers wanted to reunite Schultz with Gardiner by offering a first rd pick to us, I would make that deal.
