Same could be said of most team's fans when they play the Leafs. I agree the 1st line was a disgrace but it was a total team non-effort. I really can't think of any Leafs player that was anywhere near on his game tonight.

I'm arguing that their collective and individual efforts were not good enough, especially the former, who is often touted as a great shutdown player on these boards. We weren't exactly playing a team full of NHL players.

And to your final point, clearly it DID make a difference. Stats don't li- go look at them. Kessel was applying enough defensive pressure on his man to mitigate scoring opportunities and pucks to the net. Kulemin did not.
You're right, a hypothetical situation is not a good argument on my part. However, stats sometimes only tell part of the picture, for example, a player just jumping onto the ice could pick up a -1 when his team gets scored on -- in such a situation, the stat is more grey than black and white.

You are underselling the Senators though...They won three straight before facing the Leafs, so it's not like the Leafs are the only team losing to a bunch of AHL'ers.
You also realize that the difference between Ben Bishop and the guy who was leading the league in save percentage by 11% is pretty big, right?

2nd line had their best offensive game of the season and were disasters defensively. We can't win, can we?

Nice $5.5 million faceoff loss to seal the deal there. And really, our 2 worst defenders out on the ice with 20 seconds left? Terrible decisions by Randy leads to the loss.

Gunnarsson ADMITTED he probably won't be 100%. WHY is he on the ice!! Komisarek has played well and is 100% healthy. Even Liles wasn't as bad as Gunnar has been.

Gunnarsson being show cased for a possible trade. I hope so.

You're absolutely right about how stats can be misleading at times, especially in the hypothetical you've pointed out. That wasn't the case tonight with the players I've discussed.

I really think management should look to trade Grabovski. His salary is not justified by his production.

Nobody would trade for an injured player and if anything his stock just keeps going down.

Huh? He was trying to goad Kadri into a penalty or maybe a fight (but I doubt that cuz i think he's generally a classy player and doesn't fight guys way out of his weight class). It was an intimidation play from a big guy on a little guy and the little guy didn't care a bit and didn't draw a penalty. How else can you see it? Just be happy you won. You have very poor trolling skills by the way.

They're obsessed with us... which is probably why they chant "Leafs suck" at Sens home games that don't involve us whatsoever.

Sucks that we couldn't extend our home winning streak. Back on the road now.
