Wild-Isles

To the Wild: Okposo

To the Isles: Setoguchi

Okposo gets to return home and Setoguchi gets a chance to be Tavares' RW

Have at it. All input is welcome.

I'd rather have Clutterbuck to be honest.

Would also rather have Clutterbuck. Both Okposo and Setoguchi are moody wingers down on their luck, but I'd rather stick with the problem I know (Okposo) over the one I don't (setoguchi).

No thanks, I like Seto.

Okposo has been bad, but for pretty much one year of Seto at 3M for pretty much three years of Okposo at 2.8M per is a bad trade considering Seto is arguably not even better than Okposo.

WTF. Look crazy man, Seto is a 20+ goal scorer, even on our pathetic team.

I don't mind Okposo, but no way in hell are you getting Seto for him. Maybe Clutterbuck, but not Seto.

Okposo scored 24 goals last year after a rough start. But this trade just doesn't make sense anyway, why would the Isles sell low on Okposo now when he is notorious for slow starts.

That is true. And, Okposo's value is not where it should be it seems.

I just wouldn't do Seto. We need to offence too much, and only have a few players who can do what he can. Buck can provide some offence, but would be easier for us to replace with some of the prospects we have.

If I were the Isles, I wouldn't move Okposo at this time.

If he does get moved, and the Wild are the partners, maybe Clutterbuck and 3rd? I guess we could go to a second, but I just don't see that great a difference between Buck and Okposo, some but not quite 2nd worthy.

Eh? They've virtually produced the same, pointwise over their careers.....Okposo has produced ever so slightly more at .57 PPG to Devins .569 PPG. That's even when taking into account Okposo missing almost a full season with a shoulder injury.... one that he came back too early from and saw his play suffer for.

Okposo is a year younger, signed to a cheaper contract and for two years longer.

Butch Goring would have a field day with Saygooshie's name every game.

As an Isles fan, it is perhaps the start of a trade — assuming the Wild have any interest in moving Seto.

Assuming that is the case, I think the Islanders may need to consider a conditional pick.

The only reason I am suggesting the conditional pick from the Islanders is because Seto is a UFA after 13-14. Okposo is signed through 16-17. If the Islanders can sign Seto long term beyond 13-14, the conditional deal would go into place. Seto has 2 years on Okposo, and a bit better consistency and numbers.

If this is a change of atmosphere kind of deal, then I can see the basis for a deal.

The conditional pick can be a 2nd rounder in 13-14, but only if Seto re-signs before the draft. If not, then it should be a straight up deal.

I could see Seto flourishing on the line with JT, or helping to ease what will be a young Strome on line #2 next year.

Okposo can be very good, but it is not happening with any consistency on Long Island. As an Isles fan, outside of last nights game, he is a ghost on skates.

This is nothing but a lateral move so no.
