Sorry for the half-ass GDT, I'm still on my way back from Buffalo, I didn't have time to post anything creative. But, let's keep it rolling. The bag comes off! Let's keep it off!

Wow, when Strait went down with an injury, I thought we were in deep trouble.. He was our most solid D-man at that time.... But with Hickey proving to be a solid addition and getting more minutes by the game (19:50 last night), Visnovsky getting more comfortable and every bit as good as Streit offensively, along with either Carkner or Finley (Finley now), this is probably the best defensive corps we've had in a while... Those guys along with Streit, Hamonic and McDonald.... not bad compared to the bush league defensemen we've dressed the past 5 years or so. We're even deep enough to deal with three injured D-men (Carkner, Strait and Martinek) and still dress 6 NHL caliber D-men.... or 5 NHL caliber D-men, and one necessary bruiser.

Now if only some of the forwards.. cough Okposo..cough, could get it going, we may actually play meaningful hockey for awhile..

For my 1000th post, a prediction for my favorite Islander Josh Bailey.... he will score his first goal of the season tonight!! It will be the start of his coming out party, which we began to see at the end of last year.... Let's go Josh!!

Switch Casey Zeeky with noReasonerr to be there and it a more dangerous team. Reasoner has played better this year but a more vanilla player I haven't seen. Belongs on the 4th line and pk (which he's been solid on)

Grabner needs to be with Neilsen or Bailey.

I'd pay to see Grabner-Bailey-Ullstrom for a few games - or at least Grabs-Neilsen-Bailey which should be the no brainer 2nd line.

Poulin could stop the Cane's mojo in the coliseum streak. Really like our last 5 periods. Feels like things are coming together but this 7 game homestand will determine a lot. Need 4 wins to be a success.

Got keep the pedal pushed down tonight, Tavares has played well against the Hurricanes before but this can't be a one man show, the Canes will score goals.

But boy, that defense looks atrocious.

What the Islanders should have dome was have a reverse jersey night and wear white tonight since
they have played much better on the road.

Say it isn't so Joe, used those satan jerseys already a couple times to end decent momentum we had.

And yes very impressed with the D right now. Streit was playing so deep in the offensive zone all night, its this creativity which will throw curve balls at our opposition. Right now we have 4 very strong Ds who will carry the puck deep if need be. Streit, Vis, Hamonic and Hickey. I LIKE IT. Would rather lose 5-4 trying then 3-0 laying an egg.

No fluke goals. No 3rd jersey jinx and this game is winnable!

Big Poulin fan, but he can't seem to stop a beach ball lately, and that's in the AHL. Though both NHL wins last season were against Carolina, I don't think Poulin's stats at the end of the season will be much different from DP's. Rewatching last nights amazing performance by Nabby, I can see Poulin giving up 7 goals in the same game.

Carolina 5 (2 goals in the 1st 2 minutes of the 1st, as per the norm for Poulin in the NHL)

Isles 3

6-3-1 on the road and 2-6-0 at home.

So we have the last line change and can't make it work, whose to blame there ?
If we can't play .500 this homestand I say Cappy has to go. No more excuses.

Not going to lie, I have been a big fan of Visnovsky. He's been really really good, not only offensively, but he's been solid defensively as well.

If we can get back to .500 after our usual 2nd month meltdown, that would be so good for this team and they can even ride a hot 2nd half into the playoffs (knock on wood). This game has become biggest game of the year

great GDT! my fav Stones song by far!!!!

Tavares' domination of the canes will continue. Poulin should be in goal and i think the team will respond and play well. this home stretch will decide our season and I'm sure the players know it.

prediction is 5-2 isles , Tavares 2 goals and 1 assist

There is that headless picture of Tavares again. I hope it's just an illusion. Nino is the only turtle around here.

Pou will give up the first goal of the game within 5 minutes as is his wont, then he will settle down as he usually does. Isles wiin this 5-2.

Goals by Vis, JT, Moulson, Grabs, Bailey.

Tonights game will come down to Poulin vs Ward...Just like the game against Ottawa in which the result of the game was basically Dipietro vs Anderson.
