Yeah, a guy with those hands, vision and shot would be terrible on the pp. Thank God Therrien knows this.
I don't disagree, I want him on the PP too aside from the brief cameo.
Just saying the huge amount of penalties in our games the last 3 is probably the main reason why his TOI has dipped since he's not a regular on either unit. Tonight, 15 minutes of this game was PP time (combined for both teams). Last night, it was 16 minutes. Against Philly, it was 19 minutes.
Cut that in half...and Galchenyuk is probably playing 3-4 minutes more per game, which puts him in his customary 12-13 minutes per game he's had most of this season.
Yes, I'm sure if we put Galchenyuk on the PP while DD continues to be useless that Galchenyuk's development will stall and he will become a Daigle-esque bust.
No worries. The moment of truth will come in the PO. If we lose the first game, and especially if we drop the first two, changes will have to be made. And more and more I think Habs are one team that could benefit from our rookies in the PO. Young legs, boundless energy go a long way in the PO.
And yes, even Dumont, who I've always liked.
Watch out, not many teams are entering the PO with such rookie quality. This is a bit of a secret weapon for us.
If two or three of DD, Ryder, Gio, Moen and and Bourque don't step up fast, and I mean game 1, they will lose time to the rookies in the PO.
Plekanec playing 19 minutes a game, I don't have any issue. But Therrien should use Eller, both Gally way more and reduced Gionta/Bourque to the 13-14 minutes. Nothing happen with them lately, and Pacioretty could use an extra minute or two a game.
Gionta and Bourque both play on the Penalty kill. Gionta also plays on the PP. They pretty much all play the same time on 5v5.
