Well there was also the public intoxication arrest, which was overstated but probably not very good for him.
That was so poorly timed/placed. Draconian liquor laws allowed cops to arrest sober people in restaurants on grounds that they APPEAR to be drunk. Land of the Free..
I was actually referring to his divorce and subsequent re-marriage to his wife and baby mama. I havne't really kept up on the guy but I read about it on 25stanley once.
It really sucks that the Bruins played an afternoon game today - the day before a divisional match with Montreal who are playing a night game against Pittsburgh. A game that will likely be very physical.
He now has 18 points in 20 games. Only 4 goals, but that's what an unlucky 6.1% shooting percentage will do to you. He's doing this with the 5th highest Corsi Rel QoC on the Canes,
So many people didn't want him on the Habs this summer. I remember a lot of people actually would have preferred Shane Doan: lol.
We might have another chance to sign Semin this summer. It wouldn't be a good move: Semin has the necessary package of skills, talent to become the new Kovalev, but he's also an excellent defensive forward to boot.

I'd take Semin over Ovie at this point. His goal scoring is streaky, but he's more complete.

I'd certainly take Semin over Ovechkin, but that's because he will be cheaper in cap hit, in term, and in traded assets (assuming we get him via the 2013 UFA market) than Ovechkin. I think Ovechkin will be the better player averaged out over the next decade.
I know we lost tonight but I just hit a milestone this post #500 and many more to come so lets get some rest tonight boys and kick Bostons ***s tomorrow!
Does anyone know how to the Rookie User thingy go away? Lol
I'm going for the double-meaning. Semin can certainly average 70 points per 82 games here with a decent mix of goals and assists, be a 6'2" man in the offensive zone, give us that gamebreaking ability from the wing, and stabilize our offense for years to come. The players are a little similar, Semin has slightly more injury history, and is somewhat better defensively.
At the same time he can polarize the fans. The dim and the dull will be able to congregate together to complain that Semin is lazy and that they hate him.

To get rid of the Rookie User thingy you have to let in 7 goals against the Penguins.
Either that or send a check to PO box 17115 and address it to Lafleurs Guy...
Ribeiro is a fantastic hockey player and every team that's lost out on him has regretted it. Washington got him for cheap and whoever signs him will be lucky to have him. A consistent 60pt+ centre in the NHL, offensive vision second-to-none, Montrealer... and most of our idiot fanbase still say that he's a chump or he's classless or that he's a cancer.
Can't stand him. Glad he's gone. Don't want him back. He is a cancer and exactly the kind of gutless player we should be staying away from. The Boston incident alone should ban him from our building for life.

The facts are Koivu is the one who wanted to leave, and Kovalev was offered a contract but chose to go to Ottawa.
Would have been better than Gomez+Gionta.
Koivu wanted to stay and I think he was really hurt not getting an offer from us.

Hehe, yes. When you learn the difference between posting and spam.

Koivu had said multiple times he will end his career in Montreal. Though it wouldn't have been good PR to low ball him to a contract. He would have signed it. His life was Montreal. Montreal did the right thing though, moving on.
I'm happy for him he got the 3 million contract from the Ducks. This season it seems he has rejuvenated. 20 points in 20 games and leading the ducks in PP goals. Hoping for a long post season for him and the Ducks.
EDIT: I love how Brendan Gallagher said he asked if it's OK for him to take 11 as it was Koivu's old number and he knew Gomez "also wore it in between". Such nice words about Koivu's contributions also after that. It wasn't asked of him, he didn't need to show respect, but he chose to. I like when a young player shows that kind of class.

Some good players have worn that number. Kirk Muller for one.
