CAL/TOR (Minor)

Prospects change of scenery-

To Calgary:
The 6'5 Center from Calgary, Alberta

To Toronto:
The 6'3 Winger from Courtice, Ontario

Toronto may be giving up a player that has shown a bit more drive, but the Leafs likely wont find a spot for the coined 'soft-big man' - I think he just needs to be given a chance, and no other place is better then his hometown.

this is a bad trade, Nemo has done basically nothing as a pro.

Him and JC have gone down similar paths....

I would say this happens if the Leafs feel that Colborne doesn't have a spot in our top 6. And likely wont develop enough to be a bottom 6 contributor.

If anything it gives us a fresh face from the area, who will likely step it up a notch infront of his hometown - same can be said for Colborne.

Joe is alot more skilled and has a way higher upside. Nemos put up 6 points this year so i wouldn't say they took similar paths.

Toronto needs more big centers in our system then big wingers (Biggs, Ashton, Leivo). So we will pass.

I think Calgary needs to add something. Look at the production of both players this year in the AHL

Opps you are right. I looked at the Calgary profile and was comparing to last year stats.

Regardless, I don't think it is too far off....If the Leafs feel that JC will get more playing time in Calgary, and Nemiesz is worth the shot, for a fresh sheet. It's not too bad, likely better than the 7th rounders that some of these teams got for young players.

I get the point for sure, I just don't think this is the player we target. I played minor hockey agaisnt nemo and hes a great guy, just don't think this trade is a fit.

Everyone seems to have a connection. My Aunt and his aunt drive to work together every day. irrelevant, but still.

Meh for meh. At this point I don't see either of them having what it takes to make an impact at the next level.

The lack of production is a combination of talent and the fact the coach emphasizes a defense-first system.

I'm not sold on Ward as a coach - I think he'd be good at the NHL level. I'm just not sure he's the kind of coach you want to develop young players.

Leafs easily pass. Patience worked for Kadri , I think we're too quick to give away Colborne..

Given that Nemisz seems to be in the doghouse with Ward and has been stuck on the 4th line his numbers aren't going to impress anyone not surprised Leaf fans are passing.

Effing rights Courtice .. I knew his older brother back in the day while in high school

On the trade, I'd rather keep Colborne... Leafs need centreman with size, not another grinding winger

I played minor hockey agaisnt him up until he went to windsor and i went to.... well nothing. Hes a talented guy that controlls the boards pretty well, we just have plenty of wingers with his skillset.

Nemisz has been hurt for a large portion of this year and when he returned it took him a while to get going and get ice-time. He has been playing better recently but the numbers just haven't been there, he has been very goon on the boards and has been going to the front of the net to create screens and space for his linemates. IMO he is a big reason for Reinhart's increased production.

Going into this year Nemisz and Colborne's point per game pace differed by 3-4 points (in Colborne's favor) over a full season with Colborne playing on more offensive teams.

Due to his play this year and being a natural center I do do believe that Colborne is more valuable on the trade front, but I also think this is why Flames fans are giving up on Nemisz too quickly, he was always projected to be a project and then he lost 1/3 of his season due to injury. If it were up to me I would give Nemisz another year under a new AHL coach before throwing in the towel on this kid.

Colborne has 20 points in his last 20 games. No thanks. This was proposed before and it was just as bad then.

Don't think Toronto has given up on Colborne yet. I think the only way he'll end up in Calgary, is part of a deal for Kipper. As far as a change of scenery type trade, I wouldn't be opposed to a Nemisz for Ashton deal. Both players are struggling this year and neither skate really well.
