Personally, I'm not very interested in trading Kulikov. He's the best PMD the Panthers have behind Campbell. I don't think Robak could replace his role on the team next year nor do I think Matheson is anywhere close to ready.
Not trying to offend the Avs fan base, but the spare parts of one of the worst, if not the worst defense, in the NHL aren't very valuable to the Panthers.
Kulikov for ROR is about a wash, but I don't see a budget team willing to sign ROR to that big contract he wants. Kulikov signed his cheap bridge contract. Plus, I don't think ROR is that 1st line center the Panthers are looking for.
I wouldn't trade Goc for a 3rd, but I don't really want to trade Goc anyways.
I remember reading about Weiss might waive his clause for TOR/DET because his family is there. But with the new alignment proposal (where FLA, DET, TOR are all in same division) I don't think panthers will trade him to them
I think a lot of people have the idea that around the 300 game mark you have a pretty good idea where a player is a d-man. He's getting close to it and he's definitely a top 4 guy. What remains to be seen is if he can cut down on his mental mistakes (he's good for one boneheaded play a game) and get some confidence in his offensive game (he misses the net most shots.) I see him as a first pairing guy with #1 potential in the next couple of years so I agree with your sentiments. He's going to be a stud.
With all that said, we desperately need a top line forward and Kulikov might be able to bring that back as a centerpiece of a package.
It would have to be one of those "hockey trades" for sure.
I think their players were riding high on those ridiculous contracts they were handed. Now that they've come back down to earth, good luck getting rid of a bunch of mediocre players getting paid like star players.
the only thing i worry about trading for ror is what happens when we get a top draft pick and end up taking one of the centers? we'd have "fill in the blank", bjugstad, shore, RoR? to be honest id rather just not trade for him. if we trade kulikov id like a top winger. id love to do the weiss + kulikov for perron + rattie + 1st, we can throw in a 3rd if needed, or a prospect depending on who it is. id rather keep flash, he has a lot of talent, was our best forward last season when we actually had an operating 1st line, he got some goals this year but he's playing with weiss who has been playing like $hit and looks invisible, along with kopecky/matthias.
forwards id like to keep: huberdeau, bjugstad, fleischmann, and shore (and id prefer to keep bergy too). weiss, versteeg, possibly mueller, goc, kopecky, upshall, parros, smithson, kovalev, santorelli, skille, matthias can all be had.
defense id prefer to keep: really just campbell and gudbranson, if kulikov is traded itd have to be for a top winger. kuba (nmc), jovo, weaver, strachan, and possibly kulikov as mentioned can all be had.

You can move centers to wings or trade them. You can never have too many quality centers.
