Political Discussion - "on-topic & unmoderated"Rated PG13, unmoderated but threads must stay on topic - that means you can flame each other all you want as long as it's legal
Really, is anyone surprised that AP's response to an intelligent article that required several months of research, and was printed in one of the most highly regarded news magazines out there, is a Napoleon Dynamite "Didn't Read" animated gif? AP's atrocious grammar and spelling, plus his lack of interest in anything beyond the standard right wing talking points, don't exactly suggest somebody who's a voracious reader. I suspect that anything beyond the Clifford the Big Red Dog series is too much of a complex read for AP.
Put him on ignore. I did that after being on this site for 2 weeks. Stop torturing yourself.
I can't blame him, there's enough to be cynical about in the US that it can drive a man to drink...or espouse the ideals of communism.
This times a million. Being an American, I feel helpless as my nation turns more and more into what we assumed the USSR was. Problem is that I can't think of a way to fix things under the framework in place. Can you?
It's sadly easier to espouse idealized Communism than it is to fix the status quo democratically.
University: Where everyone knows the perfect way to fix the world, and almost all of them are wrong.
Yep, in my opinion the problem is with many large Universities are they live in their own little bubble wrapped worlds.
And I wonder if this Cynicaps goof if not a troll is a pure city boy who can't picture life outside the city. Even in North Korea they keep their capital city in relatively good condition, it's all the rural regions that are completely ****ed. Meanwhile in America the greatest amount of decay and poverty can be found in the inner cities, while rural regions (though failing in some States) are usually quite healthy.
In my opinion that's actually one of the biggest distinctions between the Western world and the rest, quality of life (in terms of infrastructure, education, health, etc) is just as good in our rural or small town region as it is in the cities. What tends to happen in dictatorships is the corrupt government officials have a habit of drawing all the wealth to their city, leaving the countryside in shambles.

Don't know why you have such a problem with CNN. They mention Twitter and user input for about 30 seconds every day on Carol Costello's "Talk Back" segment, yet they get this label as a "Twitter Network".
I personally watch CNN and don't watch it for entertainment value aside from Piers but overall they are the least of the evils of the news networks...Also like the speicals they run with there investigative reporters across the world...Would rather watch a network that occasionaly runs twitter feeds then the other garbage out there.

I grew up in a rural New York town which when growing up was dominated by a nearby institution for the disabled and a juvenile prison create out of a former psych center. Lots of farms and civil service with pockets of poverty here and there. Growing up, I briefly lived in a fixer-upper with a room with a dirt floor.
I've also lived in a state capital, DC and its suburbs and the suburbs of another large city. My last 3 presidential votes have gone Bush, Obama, Gary Johnson. And frankly US party politics has become so polarized that there is no easy fix; a full-libertarian system would be ideal but is totally unattainable in this day and age. Since I can't espouse that, I must go to the other extreme.

I like how you think the choices are between full-libertarian system and nuclear holocaust followed by communism.
This is why the only way to fix the US is a period of Communist dictatorship. No other viable way to overthrow the US's corrupt government and no movement will defeat Big Pharma. The corruption and cronyism in the US is enough to make any American self-hating and resentful.
I wish the Chinese would invade the US. I hate being American and my third world corrupt craphole homeland.
I doubt he's a troll, I knew a bunch of people at university like him.

Sadly there are way more of him than you think. Many of these same nutjobs often call
themselves moderates. You know? Like the other radical left-wingers that post here? Especially those from up north or in California for that matter.

People who use the ignore feature in a thin-skinned matter are a bunch of cowards.

Yeah I couldn't imagine having you on ignore and not being able to call you the ****ing moron you are.
Institute a communist dictatorship. Kill millions directly through extra judicial killing. Kill millions by not having enough food for the rural and urban areas. Legislate the illegality of having other political parties. Purposely institute mass starvation so neighbours eat one another. This sounds like a perfect utopia.
I know it's unmoderated, but people like AP ruin the other part of the equation ("on-topic") by consistently posting nonsense that derails threads. This forum should be lightly moderated so that obvious trolls like AP can be banned. We don't allow outright bigotry and hate speech in this forum; people who troll regularly should also be given the boot.

You need to grow some thicker skin. God damn you're sensitive
AP shouldn't be ignored, because if you turn on CSPAN, there are idiots on the floor of the House just like him actually running things. You've gotta keep up with what these numbskulls believe.

There was no reason to take Soledad O'Brien off the air, but I know why they did. Let's just say she gave the wrong people a hard time on a network that's been trying to "change it's image" for 20 years now.

When did I ever say I would want people to starve? Or that I would punish dissent? Or limit political parties?
What I do want is the US's status quo gone. If anything, this would be done best by cloning Canada but this does nothing to punish Big Everything and Wall Street and all current politicos.

6: Some have violent psychopaths running their governments.
99% of humanity are violent psychopaths deep down inside. It's only .0000000001% that actually gets to express it.

7: No, Holmes and Lanza, if they were diagnosed at all, would have been shuffled off to some hell on earth "hospital" and be left to die a slow death while receiving no treatment.
Let's see, under this system they die but 38 (THIRTY-EIGHT) people whom they killed do not die. Given how the US gives no treatment to its mentally ill, this sounds better given that letting two mentally ill people die is easier to justify than 38 innocents.
Sometimes the mentally ill just want to die and we should not stop them from doing so. Look at Jovan Belcher and Mindy McCready, saving them would have not helped them one bit.
