I was not saying the Caps shouldn't have b2bs and I don't know how I could've given that impression. Again, there appears to be a team-wide issue with conditioning and/or motivation that was evident vs Philly, and that should have nothing to do with an assessment of Erskine as an individual, his contract or Holtby's comments.
Is that clear enough?
I'm in the Erskine thread and made a comment about a play he was directly involved in and you saw fit to turn it into something else. And that play was four measily minutes into the game. Sure.........I'll surmise that when they go down 1 goal in thirty seconds the rest can throw in the towel and claim "we're too tired and/or not motivated".
Yes, you've made yourself abundantly clear that Erskine's play was due to the whole team being flat. Thank goodness Ward found enough strength and motivation to score a goal late in the third.
I thought it was awesome seeing Erskine step and really try and nail someone in center ice. It may be the first time all year a Dman tried for an open ice hit like a man... ok Scott Stevens. I hope he embraces his new role as our 2LD and tries to grab the bull by the horns and lead our listless defense.
I hope someone does this, but I'm not convinced Erskine is good enough to be the one who does.
