Couture-Thornton-Burns
Wingels-Marleau-Havlat
Gali-Pavelski-Sheppard
Desi-Zus-Burish.

I think Wingels is a better forechecker and can retrieve pucks better than Gali and definetly better than Kennedy.
I wouldn't mind Handzus in instead of Kennedy for the 4th line. That's not a big deal to me. The reason why I put Galiardi in there instead of Wingels is because I think it protects Galiardi more to play with guys like Marleau and Havlat than it does with Pavelski and Sheppard. He'd be the first fore-checker on either line but there is less margin for error with Pavs/Sheppard as your backup and Galiardi needs that even though he would theoretically face better competition. I'd also like to see a legitimate speed line put together and see if they can stretch the ice more. Wingels can win the physical battles more often than Galiardi but he's going to lose more races than Galiardi.

I can agree with that but if Vlasic-Braun is your third pair, you can protect their minutes while they find a way to mesh and develop chemistry. They may be soft but I don't see a third line out there that would destroy them and create offense against them consistently.

Murray is more likely than Clowe. Especially now that Clowe is hurt.

Not only is that article from Eklund, but he didn't even spell Clowe's name right.

If I knew I was on the trading block and didn't want to leave, I'd say I was injured too.

If I was in my contract year and playing like crap, I would be resigned to the overwhelming odds that I wasn't going to come back. lol

Eklund does have legitimate sources in Philadelphia and around the east it seems, but he usually just makes up random ****. I remember Ovechkin is going to be traded for Suter and Weber and picks.

Just throwing this out there, but if we see some significant roster/$ shedding occur in the next couple of months, does anyone think there's a chance that DW targets a guy like Perry in free agency?

He's young, a winger, a winner (Cup plus Hart), a character (good or bad, you decide), familiar to casual fans in SJ to help with ticket sales and probably open to the thought of staying in-state. Our potential linemates/centers for him to play with aren't bad, either.

Furthermore, DW has never been one to offer ridiculous contracts, and with the new CBA capping contracts at 7 years, we'd be on a level playing field for once. Last season, we even saw the organization flirting with a massive signing in Weber, so it's obvious that the appetite exists within. Weber would never have even made it for a visit if we weren't prepared to offer him a massive deal. Also, with Plattner and his bank account being the majority owner now, he might be tempted to make a splash.

We won't be re-building any time soon, but a re-tool with a young superstar like this certainly feels like something DW is capable of.

If it ever happened, it would take some getting used to...but we're fans of the logo first.

Finally, with the cap going down, I fully expect us to be a cap ceiling team as we've spent this kind of money before.

Dump Boyle for Irwin and the lineup is "rosy". With that one change, we're sitting on $2M in cap space (even with an insurance minor-leaguer occupying the 21st slot).

We are too top-heavy. It is going to be hard getting any scoring from the bottom-6 in that line-up.

I completely agree, but doesn't this perfectly fit the mold that we've "enjoyed" for the last 6 years or so?

Also, it's only top heavy for a year - at which point we might be walking from Patty and/or Jumbo.

Yep. That is what we have had in the team for the last few years but it has not really benefited us in making long playoff runs. I think we need more depth and bottom-6 scoring to go far in the playoffs.

For what it's worth, we've had our most success when we iced 7 "top 6" forwards at one time.

2010 & 11: Jumbo, Patty, Couture, Clowe, Pavelski, Seto, Heatley.

If you put Seto on a line without Jumbo would he still be a top-6 forward? Plus was that also not when we had Pavs centering the 3rd line?

As I said in the other thread, Perry is a gigantic waste of oxygen and if he ever found his way onto this team I would be forced to both cheer for the Sharks and against him at the same time.

I really don't care how good he is, he's a dirtbag and I for one think this team is better than that.

I might be one of the few that still supports Seto, but yes, I do think he's a bonafide top-6er. As for Pavs, yes, he was centering the 3rd line, and we were dominant because of that depth. His quality of competition was low, and he was in his best position to succeed (at center rather than the wing).

Again, I'm on board with the philosophy that better depth through the lineup leads to better success. Just was hoping to gauge the board's thoughts on the likeliness of DW targeting a big FA for once. Any way you slice it, a PPG winger would be an immensely helpful addition (especially if he's a direct replacement for Clowe).

Literally the only thing that would stop me from being a Sharks fan would be signing Corey Perry.

Is he worse than Torres? Bertuzzi?

I have no real like for him but I don't hate him as much as a lot of other people on the forum. But then again, you guys have been following hockey for a lot lot longer than myself.
