Is the Stanley Cup Finals being Promoted?

Just wondering what the league or NBC is doing to promote the finals?

With 4 or 5 days off, are there media days with the players or cross promotions or other advertising going on across the US?

Superbowl has 2 weeks to promote the game. Is the NHL doing anything along those lines to drive up attention?

It's hard to market your championship series when two of the games are on a channel that isn't even on basic cable.

It is for a lot of people...your provider is just terrible.

I thought NBC Comcast had an arsenal of media outlets...was there any promotion on those outlets? Just seems odd to have 4 or 5 days with minimal promotions with 2 huge markets.

I use to hear about Winter Classics every day but seems quiet in the Cup finals this past week. Only media day today.

If the games are on regular NBC, I can watch. NBCSN is a cable channel, and I ditched cable because I hate Communistcast.

And no, it's not being promo'ed, not even here in Boston.

YMMV. I've been seeing promos on NBC during Belmont Stakes (generic) etc.

not in a lot of major markets... it's basically Comcast and the IPTV services only, isn't it?

It's available to 80% of ESPN's audience. Not that bad.

Summation: NBCU will promote it for free on their networks but won't buy spots elsewhere.

TWC with potential tornadoes in Chicago area tonight, talking about two MLB games and the SCF game 1. (More "news" report than promo)

I've never seen one network buy advertising on another network to advertise it's shows.

You've never seen a Monday Night Football commercial during Sunday Night Football?

I see it every week during the season.

Sox have canceled their game.

I wonder if they would so early if there wasn't some other game going on...

Well, for one, the NBC affiliate in Seattle isn't showing the game. Great prospective market, eh? ;-)
