Maybe St Louis would consider going big. Forget these prospects, if St Louis wants to deal the guys I'd want are Pietrangelo and Backes. Throw Kessel and Phaneuf at them and see if it works. Shuffle some pieces if needed to even things out, but make a deal that will improve the club. Don't just shuffle a bunch of pawns back and forth.
I'd do that.
Backes would be perfect with JVR I think. I'd add a substantial piece as well (no, not Kadri like you would want)
Chris stewart can compete on most nights and can be a really good player most nights too. Problem with him is that he doesnt mentally focus in on every game. Kind of a hard player to teach. Has a big ego i believe. But when he is on, i think he can be just as good a player like Lucic. Not better, but similar in the way they play
Not even close to Lucic if he was St. Louis would not trade him neither would have Colorado trade him to St. Louis
We do this a lot in this forum overrate players on other teams and underrate the abilities of Leaf players with this grass is greener mentality.
The Leafs have 4 scoring wingers of different combinations of skill, size, skating etc.. have 2 perfect shut down guys in Kulemin and Komarov exactly where a Stewart would fit in makes just as much sense as sending Frattin down to keep MacArthur with Kadri...
If the Leafs are talking trade with St. Louis it shouldn't be for Stewart when the Leafs have this little need to upgrade on the number 1 center position.
Don't want Stewart at all, he seems like a player that shows up when he wants.
If we somehow acquire Stastny, then I'd trade for him because he was very good with him
Stew-Stas-Kessel
Agreed.
IMO i'd just be happy with Paul alone. Stewart has some issues regarding his on button. JVR or Lupul at LW will be enough for me. Still think it would be a good idea to get him from the avs but I dunno if we can. Stupid sherman's prices are high at times and then insanely low, that guy is a wild gun at times.
Assuming JayBo is available, and we're in a playoff spot come trade deadline, what would you guys offer for him? I'd like to see what Dion looks like paired with a legit top four dman.

Honestly have no clue what the hell they want, possibly tim connolly and someone else? I don't know.
Lol! Stastny is another one of those players that shows up when he wants too.
Not really. I watch avs because of my favourite player sakic was there, and he always drives and does well. His offensive goes off from time to time but that's also on the coach who also moves his wingers non stop. It actually pisses me off, so I can't imagine how the Av fans feel.
Well it fixes their issues and Rielly is the only one not on the table. I'm sure they could find a couple guys they like.
And it relieves them of some of their worst contracts.
The fact you think that Phaneuf+scraps can get RNH on the basis that they could unload some contracts as part of the deal is laughable. Any team that has a talent like that isn't going to piss them away to save money.

I think the best move the Leafs can make right now is to shed players for picks. The only additions to the roster should be elite level players (1C, top D to pair with Phaneuf), which won't be happening anytime soon. Frattin coming off the IR would put them over the roster limit, so the process of dealing players for picks may start soon.

Yes, I expect we will see some movement in the very near future.
Probably minor like Holzer being assigned to the Marlies, but could be larger.
Holzer to the Marlies would be the quick fix. If that happens, it's probably an indication that Nonis can't find a suitable trade for Liles or Komi. I think a suitable trade for those guys is one that doesn't involve the Leafs taking back an NHL contract. If nonis can move those guys for picks, great. If he can get a 2nd for Liles, even better.

I think we'll find one for liles and connolly. Team's will eventually get desperate, it's Komi Im curious about.
Wouldn't even dream to move Morrow. I'm a HUGE fan of his but they see him as a crucial piece, I mean come on, they drafted his partner at 8TH overall! When he was ranked 15thish.
Coyle I would freaking love but again don't see them moving him, I personally would go for Philips. A guy who'll take his sweet time but can reward us well, pure playmaker, leaf fan growing up, freddy boy and a high school acquaintance of mine.
Well I just hopped over to the trade boards and apparently the blue and leafs have been talking and kulemin is the center of attention. I wonder what we can get from them, I personally move Mac but wow this is has taken me by surprise.

Sources out of Toronto have the Blues and Maple Leafs on each other’s radar. One player whose name continues to pop up, not just with St. Louis, is forward Nikolai Kulemin.
A former 30 goal scorer, Kulemin is playing a different role with Toronto and could maybe use a change of scenery. The 26 year-old Russian has just 12 points this season but has been used primarily in a defensive/PK role. He’s seen limited PP action.
He put up 38 points in 36 KHL games this season. Kulemin is a childhood friend of Pittsburgh superstar Evgeni Malkin as the two played together before coming over to the NHL.
Toronto could be interested in a young player which may include former first round picks Schwartz and/or D-man Ian Cole.
My thoughts so far:
Saheb S. @LeafRocket
So the #Leafs and the #Blues are doing trade talk, regarding Nikolai Kulemin. Wonder what #Penguins think now. #NHL

Ideally I still hope Macarthur, Liles, Connolly and Komisarek are moved before Kulemin, however it all depends on how we move forward #Leafs
Personally would be quite interested in Cole. He has untapped skill in the back end which he still hasn't brought out IMO. However I'd be happy with schwartz as well
