If they can make the playoffs...That could be a tough forward group(add Matt Read to that 3rd line and take McGinn out). Still need play better D though.

Crazy only 2 of the of 11 others forwards who'll be playing for Philly have played with Gagner before.

It's going to be a little awkward when Gagne walks into the office of the coach and/or GM and they talk about forgetting that he ever left.

Goes from my favorite team to my 2nd favorite team so im ok with this. hopefully playing in a different system can get him scoring more like Simmonds

Surprised, but ok by this.

Honestly, with our scoring troubles, I'm surprised Gagne wasnt given more of a chance over the likes of King and Nolan or another shot on a line with Richards & Carter.

Yes, clearing the cap space for this year is nice in case we need to make any moves, but its not like we were in a desperate situation to save on cash.

And I can definitely see this as a personal favor in returning him back to Philly for a 4th or 3rd, whereas the return elsewhere could have been a bit (but probably not much) better, but considering the successful deals we've had /w Philly, fine by me.

Always liked Gagne and I hope he stays healthy and refinds his scoring touch.

I just really hope that with Gagne gone, Penner doesnt start sucking again.

I didn't think he played that bad but Sutter never played him. Hopefully the Kings make a move for a vet defenseman to help ease the loss of Mitchell and Greene.

Simon Gange apparently has some of the worst trade value in league history.

For a team needing D, dedicating 3.5m to Gagne seems odd. Something else in the works?

Absolutely THRILLED for Simon. He actually played well for the most part but Sutter just prefers King and Penner which I'm fine with.

Don't be surprised if Gagne has a great year.

Very happy for Gagne and the flyer fans everywhere.

Thanks Simon and best of luck to you!

Flyers get the healthy scratch Simon Gagne and they will hope he becomes Flyers star Simon Gagne once again. He'll be a nice short term fix for Matt Read as long as he stays healthy. Even though it's unlikely, you never know, he may rebound.

Kings were great without Gagne and he didn't fit their system. He didn't get a lot in return at all but it gives more icetime for younger guys in the system, less bodies to beat to get in the lineup.

Gagne seems like he's 40 already and he's an injury waiting to happen, but like I said, you never know, he has the talent to rebound.

Good for Simon, liked him in LA but don't think the system really suited him. Hope he does great for Philly. Guy is a class act for sure.

More than likely yes.

But we've had a bunch of injuries that have taken a toll on our D. Read has a torn rib muscle and McGinn just went down with a fractured orbital bone. We need warm bodies that are actually capable of playing in the NHL. A 4th (or 3rd if we make the playoffs) isn't much at all

Gagne is one of the better defensive wings in the game.

It might also free up another forward to move for a defender, altough the complexity for the Flyers of trading a forward for a defender has not changed: Everyone who could return a good defender is not likely to get moved and everyone else can't get you more than a bottom-pairing guy.

Happy for Gagne, seems like he is excited to go back home! Hopefully he stays healthy and gets some solid minutes. The 4th round doesnt make that much sense to me but they opened some cap space up to grab another guy....possibly Iggy?. All the best Simon, cant wait to watch you tonight!

Not really. Its a business. You put your big boy pants on and go to work. I do not picture Homer and Lavi as the awkward types and Simon is a pro.

Actually 32 going on 33, but yeah, he should have something left in the tank.

As a Pens fan I was kind of happy when he went away. I'd imagine he'll be quite rejuvenated by his return to Philly as long as he stays healthy. Solid low risk move for the Flyers.

The only NHL regular the Flyers have drafted in the 4th round or later over the past 10 years is superstar Zac Rinaldo.

Kings have Dwight King, Jordan Nolan, and Alec Martinez on the roster who are 4th rounders or later. Jake Muzzin was a free agent, but was originally drafted in the 4th rd (but not offered an ELC).

Then maybe the trade will work out for both sides like the last one. Mid to late rounds picks are useless for the Flyers. They have no problem picking late in the first round where they almost always find someone that slipped further than they should have but after that, they basically just throw their picks away.
