So when bourque is healthy:
Bourque-Plek-Gio
Pac-DD-Ryder
Galch-Eller-Gally
Moen-Prust-Armstrong
White

???

Also I like the idea of getting a good RH shot for the PP, he'll eat up those Markov feeds. Good stuff.

Bergevin

Montreal got a good deal here. Cole has checked out and Ryder is still good for 25-30 goals. Montreal gets even softer now though.

Cole's days in Montreal were numbered when he said that he had sent out a tweet to the entire team saying they all had to be better

Listen, I liked Cole when he was here. He was awesome. But his comments before the season really bugged me...I felt like he would go into the season just going trough the motions. And his play reflected that. I was also worried about his contract going forward given that the cap is going down. I was actually hoping he'd retire.

This trade is very easy to explain actually... after actually accepting it has been done.

At this point, Erik Cole was struggling coming in this season because he wasn't sure if by studying in Québec, his daughter could get credits later on for her later studies. Sure we can also say he was a little bitter with how the negotiations went with the new CBA, but in reality, in an interview with Martin McGuire of 98,5 fm, he mentionned thinking about retirement if by playing in Montréal, it would hinder his daughter's studies.

We can assume now that things were not going the way the Cole family planned and it affected Erik's play. Upon getting a confirmation that it would not be possible for his daughter to do as planned and by talking with Marc Bergevin, the GM probably decided to do him a good turn and trade him for the sake of his family.

Now, surely Bergevin is a brillant man if he was able to pull the trigger this fast with the Stars. As it was said by previous other people, Ryder and Cole's stats were quite similar last year and they both are over 30 years old. In that sense, we're trading around the same value of player.

Cole, although people think he's on a downfall, will be much more motivated now that his family's future is safer and he should be able to put on some goals like last year, if he's well surrounded.

Ryder makes sense for us since he's got a great shot. He doesn't like to go get the puck in the corners from what I remember, but it wouldn't be an issue if he plays with Desharnais and Pacioretty who do that constently.

Why the 3rd ? Simple reason, it's a security if Ryder doesn't want to sign with the Habs next year as he's UFA. Though now we enter the draft with one 1st round pick, three 2nd round, two 3rd, one 4th and two 5th in one of the best drafts since 2003. Almost ideal situation.

I'd say we'll have to wait a few games to see who got the better, cause I think Cole has still some fuel to put on great goals. As for Ryder, things are much different than what they were when he first left us. We have talented players that will be able to make accurate passes. It's now up to him to prove Bergevin he did a good choice acquiring him.

Cole earned that 4.5 million last year. He was great. Montreal still comes out as winners. They got a good year out of Cole, still tanked in the standings, drafted Galchenyuk and now unloaded Cole when the contract looks like it's turning ugly with 2 more years still left.

He's played uninspired hockey this year. Seems to me he got himself so worked up being pissed off with the lockout and new CBA that his head isn't in the game to start the season. My opinion of the guy really soured because of some of his comments and juvenile actions like wearing a "Puck Bettman" hat.

I don't remember saying Cole sucked, I just think Ryder's better. I know if given a choice, I would choose Ryder if someone offered both at the same price.

Eh I doubt it lol, if that's the case then we have a pretty arrogant team haha.

I think it's a combinason of Cole wanting his children to go to school in the States rather than in Montreal and Ryder's contract being better and also Therrien knowing Ryder pretty well from earlier years.

Im nor sure on this trade, cole was a older power forward that had an amazing season last year, didint follow ryder but im told hes had a good one too.

Wasent he not like in mtl and boston in the past, i might be wrong, was he a selfish player, im not too sure, ,maybe someone on here can clarify this.

He's got 14 pts on the year. He's the player with the most points on the team (tied) Nothing to cringe about here.

Great trade for Mtl.
