Can you imagine having all those picks and letting Timmins work his magic? Just that 2013 draft could turn this franchise upside down. I'm not kidding.
Wouldn't be surprised to see a 2nd packaged with a 3rd to move into the mid-first if Timmins has a player he likes that is available.
Have you ever made a trade in a NHL game where the GM says, "I'm going to take this deal and run before you change your mind".... Marc Bergevin is that GM.
I liked Cole last year but his comments at the beginning of the year were uncalled for and Im sure he was a cancer in the locker room.
Cole was a non factor this year so why not. If Ryder doest work out, well bye bye then, easy as that....oh and we got a third..So our draft will look like this...
Great trade, loved Cole, was the happiest Habs fan when they signed him, & think he was a great mentor to MaxPac but the last 2 years of the contract were going to make me hate the signing, so, now, once again, I'm the happiest Habs fan, the 3rd round pick is just icing.
You and others weren't going to stop calling this team small and soft no matter if Cole or Ryder there.
Well getting smaller is sure not a way to get better. Small and soft teams dont win in the playoffs. People get all excited with the stats of a player on a bad team.
People here have been used to mediocrity and having small teams that have gone no where in the last 19 years. This trade sucks if we dont replace him with a bigger scoring forward this summer.

And even if that happens....it will be great news as well. Just hope that those picks won't translated into a old washed vet at the deadline 'cause we're suppose to be that cup contending team which I don't believe. But everything else is fine with me.
I loved Cole but i also liked Ryder when he was here. I thought he was abused and misused when Julien left.
For all those who claim that Cole is the better player go look at their respective records. Ryder is the better player and 2 years younger.
As for defensive play you guys forgot Ryder with the Bruins. Ryder is alot better in the defensive zone than Cole.
Also Ryder's contract is a million dollars less and two years shorter. That gives the Habs flexibility.
Cole went public with some personal qualms and has played like he was still unhappy. Ryder has played very well from the beginning of this year. Cole hasn't.
It's not a great move. It's a good move and after ten years of management by the moron twins I like it.
Alright. We made the argument that Cole "uses his size" because he makes a big hit every now and then. Fine. Weak argument at best, because he uses his speed more than anything when he has the puck, but if we're playing that game;
Yes, Michael Ryder is so damn soft that he is able to drill 6'1 Voracek and 6'3 Klesla.
Let me teach you what grit means. It being not afraid to go in front of the net, and going in the corners to get a puck. This guy is trafic shy... Plekanec and Pouliot have dished out hits and they are soft has a pillow...

It's like the message you get from the other gm in NHL 13 gm mode when you overpay for someone "this is a no Brainer for us, our fans will be cheering in the streets" except it was MB saying it this time and we are! Lol

Did you... watch the videos? Do you watch him play at all? Ryder goes into corners and *GASP* he hits too. Not as frequently as a fourth line grinder but enough to take away the "soft" label.
