"Ryder is a player that is helping us right away...we are better team today"

When asked if it was a pure cap move.

So far for me its a bad trade.
Again, the better player of the trade went the other way.

Lets hope that 3rd round pick will be good.

i remember all thoses curses i said when Ryder couldnt finish around the net few years ago.
Oh well

Marc once again denies Cole had anything to do with wanting out.

That's a shame Cole was turning his game around and looked great with Galchenyuk and Eller. Now we get to shuffle the lines and cross our fingers.

Well I am optimistic because Ryder has been playing well and has a great shot but I wanted Eller to play with Cole more. If the pick was a 2nd I would be happier but meh, it is a risky trade when you are 1st in the conference.

Very happy sucky face Cole and his skulking is gone.
I always liked Ryder and I'm glad to have him back.
GREAT trade by Bergy. He's earning his keep.

What is up with Montreal's press calls? It sounds like someone's at a freaking carnival.

I like this deal because we win in the short term and we win in the long term. Short term because Ryder is better than Cole this year. Cole didn't give a crap and didn't want to play in Mtl anymore. Long term because Ryder is off the books this summer and then we can go for what the team really needs. It's a great move by MB.

Marc acknowledging Cole is a slow starter but that this deal came together quick recently.

Ryder's stats last year :
2011-12 Dallas Stars NHL 82 35 27 62

It's better than Cole. Not just a cap move. And he's younger...
I'm so happy with this one !

The " eric cole on the trading block? " Thread, Along with the " what marc bergevin is waiting for " Thread were to bait threads and BAM something completely different.

Bravo insiders, Bravo.

Not only were both these threads dated before the trade but both , if read, pose a serious debate on why I believe the NHL.COM gurus or other internet involved workers, may have made a rather intriguing show.

Bravo.

Cole was surprised, loved it here, understands it's a business, he's a professional, etc.

And it was one year! You don't throw an asset under the bus just cause he plays badly one year. He was one of the few power forwards we had.

You ever heard of cap space? The cap goes down too.

Bergy has a plan for the future and got us a cheaper and younger guy and a 3rd pick.
Oh we have cap space, I guess people thinks we're gonna have Getzlav and Perry now! We're not.

The key with having cap space when you're the Habs is that you try to get guys like Cole cause you can't get the stars, they won't come here. I think signing Cole was smart cause he was the type of power forward we never had. Now he's had one bad shorten season and we throw him under the bus. I think he was still pretty important to our club cause he was giving his share of good hits.

Difference with Ryder is that when Cole has a lethargy, he can still be physical. When Ryder has a lethargy, he is uselss.

There's no question that Cole was old but I think he could have still be useful with us, esp. in the playoffs.

Oh well
how do you figure?

COLE hasn't been producing he already started his retirement...we are getting a a younger guy who IS producing this year and we lose COLE's contract and have none with RYDER....and a 3rd pick....
