Words can't express how much I'm happy to see Ryder back, always liked him. I don't remember the last time I was this happy about a move...sure helps forget a little bit the 2009 summer where all my favorite player got let go for nothing.

Ryder was one of my favorites...now trade Gionta for Koivu!i

Bring back Karl Dykhuis!

(Kidding, I like the trade though.)

Maybe more if Kaberle is traded or compliance buy-out.

Cole and Ryder have about the same average offensive output.

At least Ryder got a right hand shot. I hope he's not turned off by the trade.

Good call. But then how do we round out that top6? Does gallagher go with DD?

Gionta
Gally
Ryder

are all RH shots, can/will they be able to play the off wing?

Ryder goes into Cole's RW spot for now I presume. Gallagher has played with DD the last 2 games.

Why not trade lots of these picks to get a top three junior player.... Like Drouin...

I don't see any scenario occurring in which he would be returning next year.

Lost a good guy who drives to the net with size for a sniper, both comparable in production

Salary wise, we win by a mile, + a 3rd rounder for us

Maybe Gallagher will take Cole's place as the player who goes to the net but he just doesn't have the size and strength Cole has

Right now I think we won by a bit but if Cole gets back to last season's production I'd wish we kept him, unless we don't resign Ryder and MB somehow manages to take a big name FA this summer

No change. Cole was playing rw too even if he was a left shooter.

I like the trade, if anything hopefully it sparks more trades to come. Having a tough time picturing Cole in a Stars sweater though, should help Benn and vice versa.

We lose a TON of grit in this trade, what do you mean? Especially come playoff time.

What number do you guys think Ryder will wear seeing as we have a newer, better #73?

Do any of you realize that Micheal Ryder is now our leading scorer on the team with 14 pts, or at least tied with patches, so why is anyone complaining?

Ah okay this makes sense. TBH I've been unable to watch the last two games so I wasn't sure if they stuck together. Plus Galchenyuk feeding Ryder could be awesome

Martin Maguire says that Cole's teamates are pretty unhappy with this he was very liked by everybody.

As fas as Cole, he said he was not surprised by the trade because of his salary? Pretty baffling. Seems like he felt the pressure.

Bergevin sure is decisive. My first reaction was to think the Habs were robbed because Cole is biggger, stronger, and faster. On second thought it seems like a good idea. The 3rd rounder the Habs picked up gives them (so far) one 1st, three 2nds. and two 3rds in the 2013 draft. If they also get picks for Weber and and Kaberle, Timmins would have a lot of fun in June and Bergevin would have a lot of flexibility in going after free agents as well as in re-signing roster players and keeping under the cap. Unless he's traded again Cole won't come back to haunt the Habs. Also, Ryder is outscoring Cole so far.

It seems that Plekanec is condemned to play with Gionta on his right side.

Dallas had three 3rd pick in 2013... Which one did we get?

Dallas, Edmonton or Minnesota's one?
