If Cole returns to his form from last season it could work out really well for Dallas, especially considering his contract extends for two seasons past this one.

I liked Cole for the Bruins before the habs got him. Well, until I saw his contract.

Cole was a non-factor this season and Habs are first.....

this move free up cap space( 2 more years at 4.5M) and $$$$ to sign UFA

and.... le coup de grace: that 213 3rd round pick

Makes zero sense for Dallas in almost every way. They had a good thing going these past few games, Ryder has really turned his game back on the past few games, Cole's been surrounded with Drama lately and has not been good. Can't figure it out.

Here's an interview with Cole.

Niewendyk must be on Crack! I can't immagine how this negotiation went. Bergevin: Ok, we have a 34 year old Whiner making 4.5 mil and seriously underperforming with only 6 points in 19 games. What will you give us? Nieuendyk ; How about perrenial 30 goal scorer Mike Ryder who was a key cog in Boston's Stanley Cup win 2 years ago. He's two years younger and 1 million Cheaper and currently one of the hottest players in the league. Bergevin; What's the catch? Neiundyk: You have to take a 3rd rounder from us as well. Bergevin : Deal! The only thing I immagine that was left after this was arranging the drop point for the compromising Photos Bergevin undoubtedly must possess.

By the way, in a close playoff series against Montreal, Ryder is the last person I want to see wearing a habs sweater. Had he been wearing one last time we met instead of ours, we quite simply would not have won the Cup.

Mine too.

Been a fan of Ryder since the full lockout when he played on my team back here in Sweden (Leksand) and was phenomenal. That release of his is really something. Was thrilled when he signed for the Bs and delighted that he got a ring here. Wish him all the best, just a bummer that he ended up back with the Habs, any other place would have been fine. Let's hope he doesn't show up against the Bs in the POs and then doesn't re-sign there in the summer, and I'd be surprised if he did re-sign unless it's for really short money.

I think we are missing some info on this deal... Like the Habs pay a portion of Cole cap hit.

Ryder has never done much against us in the playoffs. 0 points in 08, 2 assists in 7 games in 04

Yeah, I'm not really worried about Ryder beating us in the postseason. If he does, then he does (Ivan Drago?). But I can already see him scoring on us and people saying "Chia let him go!" or "Chia could have had him!" and other such nonsense. I still think PC has some moves in mind. Not that we're desperate anyway. This team looks really good.

In reading some of the posters, I thought the Hab's acquired Jack the Giant Slayer.

Right. I think there would be less outrage here if they went and got Crosby

that's a relief; good to know we can likely expect the same guy 9 years later

in all seriousness, as much as I want him here because of familiarity, track record in the three playoff years he played with Boston, and overall improvement in his game, and a 7th LEGIT top six forward who can play on any of the top 3 lines well. I find it delicious that he is a Hab,

this is a Cup guy, a key component in their Championship run, going to the Habs.

We'll all be watching the game and him come Sunday and with interest the rest of the year....I may be alone but I'm going to find it fascinating to watch, and my money says Ryder plays very, very well.

I liked Ryder alot, but I thought he was to inconsistent and was happy to see him win a Cup and gave my blessings to move on.

I watch the Stars every chance I get to see Benn, Erickson, Morrow and Ryder. My childhood bud and college roommate has been in Big D since finding a job 25 years ago out school. He's a Bruins fan first, a Stars fan second....he has season tickets to them. He tells me Ryder has improved like you wouldn't believe- no fluke. Much more consistent, definitely a better body- clearly seems locked in. I'll leave it at that.

So the Ryder watch starts for me on Sunday and it should be fun because this is all about entertainment in the end. We will find out if he is a stiff and this was merely a salary dump by Montreal or as I believe a fantastic move by their highly thought of GM Marc Bergevin

Similar to my thoughts...just like I don't like to see Kelly over-paid because of what he's done in the past, I don't predict Ryder's play based on what he did many years ago.

This year, and last, to be fair, he's looked way more interested, involved and productive.

I didn't necessarily want to see him go, but I eat my crow because I didn't think he was worth the 3.5 mil.

He'd sure look good in Boston now.

Ryder being on the habs doesn't scare me. I think our D can keep him at bay.

I just can't believe Dallas would trade a guy who has been one of their best players for Eric Cole. Add a pick too and I am dumbfounded.
