The way Alberts played today I agree. The Kings aren't a speedy team so Barker's lack of foot speed won't really be an issue his board play will obviously be a factor, pair him up with Tanev and lets see what he can do.

Hamhuis-Edler
Ballard-Garrison
Barker-Tanev

IMO the last thing this team needs when an injury on the back end occurs is another defensively-inept D-man stepping in. Perhaps he'll help the PP, but I'm not sure he displaces Edler, and the 2nd unit doesn't see much PP time anyway. I liked it when Rome and Sulzer were the 7th guys. At least they were steady.

Usually I'd agree but the way Alberts has played over the last 2 games. Dare I say it I'd rather see Barker

We seriously can't be switching D pairings every damn game. It just makes things worse.

Based on most games. I'm really not feeling a lot of confidence in this team, and that's something I haven't felt in years. I never thought I'd say that about a Canucks team that's 1st in their division.

Good thing there's still a lot of hockey left.

I'm glad to hear Schneider isn't happy with his performance. He knows that he isn't on his game. I'd be more concerned if he thought his play this year was all on the D. *cough* Ryan Miller *cough* His play has been a far cry from the elite-level play we saw from him at times last year. He's right, right now he's playing like an average goalie. On a team with two top tier goalies, and with Schneider trying to make a case for the long term starter's job, that's not good enough.

As for tonight, fault for first goal was on Alberts, but yet again Schneider gets exposed on the back-hand that Chip roofed on him. How many times have we seen him struggle with back-handers lately?

Second goal looked bad because it was from a hard angle and unscreened, until I saw the deflection on the replay. I'll give him a pass on that one, although like Luongo on Sunday, he needs to adjust to the change in direction quicker.

However, say what you want to about defensive breakdowns, the third goal he needs to make that save. It trickled 5 hole, and he should have made that stop. That's a save that would have bailed out the team and at least gotten the Canucks a point in the standings tonight.

The bright side is that the Canucks get to rest now until Saturday, after a grind in the past week that wore them out.

This is the issue for me.

The team is loaded with talent. That talent is doing SQUAT. The Sedin line is the only one who produces offensive chances on a regular basis.

Mason Raymond is excellent and we need to re sign him @3 mil long term. 5 years.

Schroeder is excellent and will continue to get better.

Kesler is starting to play a little better but he REFUSES to play selke defense anymore. I think its because hes not willing to get injured unless its the playoffs.

So he is useless as a shut down guy until the playoffs. So the canucks checking is pathetic and the coaching staff is doing nothing about it.

The defense scrambles around like they are lost, and each time someone shoots on Luongo or Schneider I hold my breath hoping it doesnt go in. Thats how lousy they are playing now.

I have to agree with the others at this point I think its time for AV and Bowness to go. We need to bring in a new coach who can implement a flow system that allows more creativity for our players. The players look sick and tired of the AV system.

This is my take on it.

Tanev is our best defensemen right now and It's not even close.

Some of the lines just look lost out there. Absolutely lost.

Just curious, why doesn't the system now allow for creativity?

Sedin Sedin Kassian
Raymond Schroeder Booth
Burrows Kesler Hansen
Higgins Lapierre Weise

Can we please put these lines together? Get Kesler concentrating on shutting people down and the offence will come.

Hes not interested in playing Selke defense. Hes afraid of getting injured. He wont even throw his weight around. Not in the regular season.

Watch him on the ice. Hes Kesler , but a non contact kesler .

I've got confidence in Kesler & the Sedins producing when push comes to shove.

It's our defense that scares the crap out of me.

I don't think they should be going at 100% steam until we have no other choice anyway. If we can keep a record similar to what we have now for the remainder of the season we'll have a chance at a different approach come playoff time. Dominating the regular season and getting blown up when it counts isn't going to work here anymore.

This team is a pretender, not a contender.

Unless certain changes are made, do any of you honestly see them going through teams like Chicago or Anaheim?

Our defense is getting no defensive support from their forwards. Even Lidstrom would have troubles getting the puck out of his own zone under a 2 man forecheck without help.

Next month is going to make or break this team(okay that's not news) but things will ramp up big time. At least we'll get to see hockey almost every night.

There may be more subtlety to modern clutch and grab but this still as much a “garage league” as when Super Mario first said it so long ago. Sucks to be skilled nowadays, doubly so if your name is Sedin. Its embarrassing with all the manhandling they are forced to endure, and with ‘new’ rules, ubiquitous visors, and decline in honor I can’t even look forward to satisfaction by other means.

Tippet, along with Hitch, Sutter, Yeo(sp?), the no-neck dude in Nashville, and all the other Western Conference trappers should be banned from coaching in the NHL. (AV ain’t far behind). When you add that TV commercials are approaching 50% of air time the entertainment quotient is in serious decline. I’m surfing channels between breaks as never before… and finding I’m not missing much when I do get back. If hardcores are doing this NHL best beware.

Sedin line is the only one generating chances the last few games. AV should make up his mind on trios, or at least duos, and give them time to learn how to play with one another. Same with D pairings.

I figured MG would have hard time deciding which one of Higgins or Raymond to keep, along with Lapierre (thought he was a sure keeper), but now I wouldn’t mind seeing replacements for all of them.

GTFO. You're a pretender.

I wish AV went more Quenneville or Crawford at times and just raged at the referees. It would in turn help take some of the anger bottled up in me some of the time.
