Atletico's quest to finish ahead of Real

So RM are now ahead of Atletico. It was fun while it lasted. Can AM regain second place?

Depends on how Madrid approach the league due to CL and lose focus

Besides being number 1, does any other table finish result in anything?

Champions League and Europa League spots for top teams, don't know the accurate numbers...

Nope. Not unless Falcao starts pouring goals in again. Defensively Atletico has been great though.

Well actually finishing 2nd or 3rd doesn't really matter, because both spots guarantee direct Champions League qualification.

It matters to Atletico fans and probably to Real fans, too. Just bragging rights. Kinda like how Villarreal finished ahead of Barca in 2008. It was a big deal to Villarreal fans. I think finishing behind Villarreal got the Barca manager at the time sacked.
