Thanks for the info guys. I already drafted Collberg last year, and both Nygren and Dietz are still unowned. Looks like both guys were great late round pick ups for the Habs. Gallagher, Bozon, Hudon, Nygren, Dietz... a lot of high value picks there for you.

I really don't see them as similar players at all. They have similar tools, I guess, but when it comes to play style they aren't similar players.

Dietz is a two-way defenceman, who skates well, possesses a big shot (both wrist and slap) that he uses well in all situations, and is a fantastic passer. He's physical too, likes to finish his checks and aggressively clear the crease. Defensively, Dietz plays a calm style and has a good, active stick. He's got fantastic gap control and is very good at forcing players to the outside. I think he has upside as a second pairing defenceman.

Nygren is strictly an offensive defenceman. He's a fairly good skater, he has that incredible slapshot, and makes a decent first pass. He's more physical than your average defenceman in the Elitserien, but not necessarily physical by NHL standards. Defensively, while improved, he's still very poor. He's over-aggressive, which can be good or bad, and seems to attached to pursuing the puck. He has gotten a lot more calm though. While Dietz can quarterback a powerplay, Nygren is strictly the trigger man. I'd be shocked if he became more than a bottom pairing powerplay specialist.

Nygren's season is over. Färjestads lost 2-1 but Magnus scored the goal for his team.
Would be great if he joined the dogs - Beaulieu and him could be deadly on the PP. I hope he gets a chance to play at WC for Sweden.

Hopefully getting Nygren to Hamilton happens quicker than it has with Collberg.

Please get DeSantis out of the lineup, not Ellis. But knowing Lefebvre...

Nygren is still likely a defensive liability at the NHL level but he has improved every aspect of his game, so I wouldn't rule out him continuing to develop. Markov, Streit and Diaz all developed their defensive games relatively late in their career too.

Of course there's still a good chance he will never be NHL quality but he has already come a long way from the draft pick many of us didn't really understand.

When Nygren comes over:

Beaulieu - Pateryn
Tinordi - Nygren
St-Denis - Ellis

Extra: Stejskal/DeSantis

RT @blockmhockey : Berenson announced Bennett as next years captain

yes, sounds like he's going back to Michigan which is good news for us as it means no loophole and another year at Michigan should be good for him while meaning one less rookie blueliner in Hamilton next fall.

Absolutely. I rarely say this but in his case, and based on the Habs situation, him staying in Michigan is perfect. Gets some icetime, practice his leadership skills even more, one less decision to take on the blueline for us etc.

And.....plays with my favourite NCAA team yet again! Still a Habs being a Wolverine for 2013-2014. We do need to work on the years after that though....I do have a couple of names in mind to continue the trend. JT Compher would look GREAT in a Habs uniform. Would make a heck of a 2nd rounder. Nolan DeJong would seem to me like a typical Timmins pick. Michael Downing...that would be a dream on the back end. Alex Kile is a favorite of mine for quite some time now. Can,t believe he wasn't drafted last year. He will be great in the NCAA.

So I know...you don't make necessarily Michigan your farm team...yet again, those players wouldn't be bad players to pick. Depends in which round though.

By the way....did I say how much I,d like Michael Downing? Surely not enough. And Compher as well. DeJong to a lesser degree and would not mind it to say the least. I will cringe when teams will take those guys that's for sure....My bet would be that Downing goes to Boston....obviously.

He has a long way until making it but I think he could be a good project. Big guy with offensive instinct!

Stefan Fournier. A big right winger. 20 y old. Undrafted. Dominates thepresent Q series.

Is he that good or just a bi product of MacKinnon and Drouin ?

Apples and oranges.

I liked Fournier last year in Victo. He is a good kid with size and skill. Critchlow was a 3rd liner most of his Q career and was 5'9".
