Everyone thinks we're getting Arnott = Gillis does something completely different.

I smell a trade.

Finish this sentence: Canucks would rather not expose a Dman to waivers because they'd rather expose them ________________.

Team 1040 thinks it's to make room for Pinozotto too. Weird.

Seems like 1040 is piggybacking on McKenzie.

The end result being, I wouldn't worry too much about which fringe players are put or not put on waivers. Team has far bigger problems to resolve (just like the last half the previous season - relying way too much on the goaltending to carry the team).

Blame it on player personal/coaching (no this isn't an AV rant as I'd put Newell Brown on the list of suspects as well)....

Jensen can leave once the season is over there. They only have a couple games left.

Might as well get him here ASAP; AIK isn't using him anyway.

3 games left. Why are they sending Volpatti down now? They are only 1 win behind the last place playoff team and one of their games is against them.

This isn't the AHL. They can't just call him up whenever they feel like it.

I like Volpatti. Seeing him on the Oilers would make me sad - although it would likely give us the answer to a question that has plagued us since the dawn of time: who would win in a fight, Weise or Volpatti?

Of course it does. They wouldn't send Volpatti down today. People want to see Jensen here and they're reaching for one of the most unlikely options.

That's without even mentioning that there's probably a 50% chance that AIK makes the playoffs.

Source tells me Volpatti on waivers to make room from Pinizzotto, who was playing on an AHL contract in Chicago during lockout.

This makes no sense...Pinizzotto was in the AHL when he was injured, so he doesn't need to be activated to our roster. And it further makes no sense to drop him right into the deep end of the pool by playing in the NHL - for the first time - after missing nearly a year of hockey.

EDIT:

Even if that's true, why recall him at all? Why not let him play down there and then recall him when he's ready? There's no sense in disposing of perfectly good forward depth in the form of Volpatti to make this move.

Ok I've changed my tune. I think this is Jensen coming.

From the article yesterday.

"
It was a form of flattery for the fast-tracking first-round Vancouver Canucks draft choice when his struggling Swedish Elite League club recently tried to trade the AIK winger's rights at the deadline."

"Being added to the Canucks' expanded playoff roster isn't out of the question. And because 18-and 19-year-old players can't compete in the AHL until their junior seasons end, the Swedish option was a win-win situation for Jensen and the Canucks.

"He could help an NHL team offensively right away," said Dave Gagner, the Canucks director of player development. "He just has to prove to our coaching staff that he's capable of doing the little things well and he could be a specialty guy right away. He's a man offensively and below the top of the circles is where he excels because he's got good size."

I don't think this move has anything to do with Jensen. I'm just saying with the season up in a matter of days, technically the Canucks could bring him over since his SEL contract will be up, yeah?

That was my thoughts too. He's proven nothing that warrants being accommodated in the NHL. I would seriously have to question Gillis and his decision making if this goes down.

I'd wager Gillis is smarter than this.

Im just Putting 1 and 1 together here.

Canucks mad at aik trying to trade Jensen. Gillis stating on the radio that they would love to let Jensen play on the big club this year.

Then Dave gagner saying this.

""He could help an NHL team offensively right away," said Dave Gagner, the Canucks director of player development. "He just has to prove to our coaching staff that he's capable of doing the little things well and he could be a specialty guy right away. I think Canucks are telling the truth and it has to do with Pinnizotto. Canucks aren't going to send down Schroeder who is a staple for 3C just to make room for pinni, I think they much rather prefer to do this with a forward that doesn't play in the regular line-up. Regardless, I am excited for Pinnizotto to come back, he's the perfect bottom six forward.

There was something in the deal between AIK and the Canucks that let them bring back Jensen when the lock out finished. There was also something in it that allowed them to veto a trade AIK wanted to make. This is not a standard agreement between leagues like NHL has with CHL and AHL. They can have whatever they want in the contract AFAIN.

That said, If it is Jensen, That's waaaaaaaaaaaay out of left field for MG.
