I just don't get why the league allows teams to be absurdly over the cap, the pens are close to 6mil over the cap now

Unsigned NCAA wingers who are basically projected 2nd/3rd line tweeners.

Boston shot themselves in the foot by trying to make the 1st conditional, so Feaster said "**** off", it seems.

Isn't the point of trading away a prized UFA-to-be to rebuild.... by actually taking pieces you can build with? I don't get this man.

I knew we should have toyed with the chump GMs in Alberta this summer.

Honestly rather him there. He was scarier in Boston. Iggy still doesn't address Pitt's biggest weakness which is MAF's 5 hole in the playoffs.

Bring Pitt on. Dead serious.
I'm more worried about making the playoffs than facing the Pens in the playoffs. Suspect goaltending from both of their supposed ''Top 10 goalies'' Chokemas Jokoun, and the dead flower, and suspect defense which was just made stronger by the addition of Douglas Murray. If they can keep the puck out of their net/out of their end they will go far.

At least we only have to play them once more this season. Hopefully they can do us a favor and beat the fishcakes down in what will probably be his first game there, unless he's flying in to debut against Winnipeg tomorrow.

Feaster said he had 3 deals from 3 teams he was willing to accept. Iggy picked his own final destination.

Granted he wants to respect Iginla for what he's done for that franchise..... but at the cost of his team. And hopefully his job.

Wish we had them 3 more times then Boston 3 times even with Iggy. It's a better match up for us.

Is that really all Feaster could of gotten though? And how did Boston screw this up?

What's all this talk of the Lightning trying to land Ryan Miller? Or Is this more crap made up by Eklund? I hope if it does happen that Yzerman doesn't regret it when Miller winds up with an 895 save percentage, and 3+ GAA like every other goalie who's gotten torched playing behind that defense. It doesn't matter who the goalie is there, but Yzerman won't fix the defense. Instead he overpays for guys like Sami Salo, and Matt Carle who bring a good amount of offense. They are still not cutting it in their own end.

jarome decided where he wanted to go, and he picked the penguins. so feaster had to give him what he wanted, even though the deal was beyond terrible.

i guess the bruins fans who cheered for bourque and his "cup crusade" are now seeing the other side of the coin.

I wouldn't get too rattled by Douglas Murray because he's garbage.

If they re sign Iginla (Wouldn't be surprised if it happened in the next few days) then I honestly believe Paul Martin will be an amnesty buyout this Summer. They'll be at the ceiling and if no one will take his contract then that's the easiest to buyout. Even though he's been good this year. They aren't going to buyout Crosby, and they really have no long contracts. Martin's isn't much longer, but it's cap hit isn't good.

I think they'll try to find a taker first, but he has some kind of no move clause, or the clause where he can block a trade to so many teams or something. If they try to throw him to the Fishcakes he'll block it just like Gomer did. I thought there was a rumor that they tried sending him there already?

contracts get pro-rated based on how much of the season has passed. Pittsburgh can add another 13m in cap based on full season numbers.

Why wouldn't I be surprised if Iginla asks for as much as he's getting now on his next contract? He's getting like $7+ right now right? Yeah Martin is probably toast whether by trade or by buyout. Remember Geno is up for a new contract next year.

Murray sucks and Morrow is not the player he once was. Iginla is the only one of the additions that will have a big impact.

If pit doesn't win the cup it will be a massive failure. They are now the Heat of the NHL.

I actually think one of the worst if not the worst things about this trade is going to be hearing Pierre splurge in his pants whenever Crosby and Iginla are on the ice together. That will be brutal.

I'm still not sold on the Pens defense, even with the addition of the Swedish Volchenkov.

Fixed.

Like the Pens or not, I admire the sheer determination by them. If we bow out, I wouldn't mind seeing them win this year.
