Nucleus of the team?

Bergy is clearly the nucleus of the team. I say this after rewatching the highlight video from the cup year when Chi talks about trading Joe Thorton and building a team around Bergy. Chara being captain is the only argument.

He's the focal point, but our team isn't built around one or two specific players like a lot of other teams are. I think the idea at the time of the trade was to make it more Bergeron's team but the injury threw a wrench into that plan. He's definitely back to being the key member of the core now though.

I'd say that the center position is the nucleus of the club. Clearly, the Julien system places high levels of responsibility on the center position. The team is built down the middle with versatility. The core of the club long term is Bergeron, Krejci, Seguin, Marchand, Lucic and now Hamilton. I can see anyone else being moved. They're getting old on D.

Zee Seidenberg Boychuck have several years left in them to play at a high level. Mcquaid is decent and Hamilton will continue to grow. Ference is the odd one out at this point and could use an upgrade from him. Getting another solid young prospect is always a good idea.

I guess it's a good thing that he's signed for this year and 4 more at a VERY reasonable cap hit.

The guy is one of the best at pissing people off, can score 30 goals and 60+ points, and is terrific defensively, plays in all situations. 4.5m isn't too bad.
