Certainly got more then your proposal.

EJ is off the table, not being traded. Same thing with Downie.

Jones for Kennedy swap could happen, that's about the only trade between the Avs and Pens we'll see. OP's proposal was disgustingly bad.

you clearly don't know what he means to colorado, he is our best defender by a wide margin on a team with a bunch of bottom pairing defenseman, we can't afford to move him while our team is taking 40-50 shots against us every night while he's not in the lineup. we move him and were just making a hole that's already there much bigger.

What injuries?

The guy has missed a TOTAL of 17 games over his 3 previous seasons... That's an average of 77 games played a season.

If that's considered injury prone and decreases his value this much, then what the hell is Crosbys value now?

i would ask someone on the columbus board about him, looks like a very effective 4th liner imo , on a stanley cup caliber team.

It's good, but you also gave up a 1st for a 2nd and with Jay McClement and I wouldn't call that "way more" than Pouliot/Kennedy.

We moved down 20 spots in the draft, not a big deal. And Shattenkirk alone is way more than Pouliot/Kennedy

Kennedy has little to no value right now, hell he has even less then McClement did in that trade.

So what your saying is Pouliot is close to the value of Shatty + Stewy.... Nope sorry try again, he's not even close to the value of one of those guys.

You don't want Downie. What about Landeskog?

He just came back from a concussion, he's injury prone and he looks over the hill, but I think he'd fit in nicely on the 4th line, especially with Glass.

Maybe something around Kennedy + 7th?

Looks good, Avs should include another useless piece like McGinn or something in there to really balance it out.

People who don't watch Avs often don't realize how good a defender EJ is and how important he is to the team. There is no way they are trading him.

Avs shots for/against with and without EJ this season.

With EJ (11 games): 30.8-29.1
Without EJ (7 games): 26.1-37.4

Pouliot + Kennedy wouldn't even get you close to Shatty alone.

The Pens need to be saving money on the blue line so that they can re-sign Letang not taking on more salary like EJ.

Hes getting paid 3.25 million this year and Tyler Kennedy is making 2 million

And no we're not trading our 2nd best player for a good prospect and a bunch of throw in's

because Despres is really a throw-in...

if you're talking about Despres being the good prospect, he's not really a prospect anymore.

No offense the kid as he's a talented youngster, but as the best piece in a trade for EJ, Despres is a joke.

The OPs trade suck, it doesn't matter if Despres is a good player which he is.

If we trade EJ+SOB I would personally demand,

Niskanen
Morrow
Depres
Harrington/Dumoulin

Coming back and yes I am serious. EJ would absolutely dominate for the Penguins paired with Letang.

Something tells me the Avs really want defensemen.

When EJ's the only one even close to first pairing, and until Barrie and Hejda gelled recently, the only one even close to being top 4 caliber, yeah, we do. If the ROR trade brings back someone who can play with EJ and develop into a quality first pairing, we're pretty solid, Hejda-Barrie's been a good pairing that could be the 2nd pairing, and with Wilson, SOB, Elliott and Siemens there's a good 3rd pairing in there, but we really lack at the top which is why EJ has so much cleaning up to do when he on the ice.

i wasn't even commenting on the trade proposal, which is lopsided. i was commenting on the notion that Despres is a throw-in. i wholeheartedly disagree on that front.

Johnson is over rated, pens have enough D prospects that one is likely to surpass Johnsons current play as soon as next season

Colorado doesn't do this and pens defense is fine. For now.

I wouldn't mind getting something for TK tho

No trouble to tell your a fan in the East Coast. Should probably watch EJ play a little before coming up with this ridiculous statement.

Btw, Avs were allowing 29 Shots per game when EJ was in the lineup, and taking 30 shots a game. Since EJ has been hurt, they're allowing 37 shots per game, and only taking 26. That just goes to show how valuable he is to the Avs at both ends of the ice.
