Do what talking on the ice ? You mean he should have double the amount of goals semin has right now on the season? Or should he have more power play goals?
Do the talking tomorrow,.....regardless of what he's done personally, it's a pretty asinine comment to make that the Caps are better off while they sit in last place.
Not to mention, Ovy and Semin are best friends,....I know I wouldn't be too impressed with a teammate going out of his way to bash a friend when it serves no purpose whatsoever.
"going out of his way"?!?!? Did Brouwer launch www.semindoesntcare.com the day before the game? That's going out of your way. Answering a reporters question is not going out of his way. And you know damn well that Ovechkin knows what the truth is regardless of whether or not he'd prefer see that truth aired in public like Brouwer did.

Good point, Ovechkin did mention something about the holier than though ******canoe act by the grinders when talking about skill players was getting to him and some other unnamed guys. I thought he meant Laich, but now Brouwer makes sense as well.
Brouwer is a total dumb**** for having said anything. Both because there's a good chance Semin goes God mode on the Caps tomorrow anyway AND he's risking tension in the Caps' room. There was nothing to be gained--and plenty to lose--by talking **** about Semin, no matter how honest the statement.
The fact that he was so cavalier while they're in lottery position, just ices the cake.

There's always something to be gained from speaking the truth.
He's just one of many respected Caps leaders to state the obvious
about the environment in the dressing room.
Ill gladly sacrifice one potential big game against a rival for a culture of accountability.

You mean, everything is on the line.
Well its clear, he'll be the best player, just like he was for the Caps every game 7.
Brouwer talks crap while our team is on the bottom looking up and Semin's team is in a playoff position.
I can't handle 2 Laichs on one team. Two loud mouths who never show up in the playoffs but always have the right things to say to the media.
Brouwer and Laich aren't really that similar. Laich would never call players out like that. He's all about maintaining his image and saying the right things. Brouwer's more sincere. He's probably frustrated about his own inability to be the player he views himself to be. He wants to be a leader of men, but these incidents reveal his immaturity and lack of self-awareness. If he were more mature and less inclined to lash out at/blame others he might actually be suited for leadership. He means what he's saying, though, whereas Laich is just a BS machine.
Brouwer should have given the political answer instead of slagging an upcoming opponent (always stupid, unless you're baiting a hothead or giving the needle to someone who's easily intimidated), but that doesn't mean he was lying or had some ulterior motive. What is this, the 4th former-teammate to say the exact same thing about Semin?
And it's all jealousy and sour grapes, according to his devoted fans. Or in this case, it's based on some financial motive that doesn't make any sense. I guess Brouwer is just calling Semin a doodiehead so he doesn't come back and Brouwer can have his favorite swing on the playground.

Basically every line in the above post is wrong. Many times the truth is best left unsaid. It may be the truth that every Caps player thinks Sydney Crosby is a whiny baby or a raging queer, but if they all said that in public do you think that would have any benefit for the Caps at all? Of course not.
He was talking about the environment last year, which serves no purpose whatsoever for this year. And calling Brouwer a "respected Caps leader" is a stretch. You have no idea what the rest of the Caps think about Brouwer, but you could probably go ask Neuvy, Hamr, or maybe Ovi too.
A culture of accountability always starts with blaming other people for your problems, and with claiming that being in last place is "doing well". Yep, that's the hallmark of accountability right there.

Well Brouwer is a player representative which I believe his fellow teammates elected him to. Additionally, he does wear the A on his jersey so both of these seem to me to be good indicators as to what the rest or at least a majority of the Caps think about Brouwer.

Yes, because if Ovechkin is any indication, the league should be envious of the types we choose for the ring of Captaincy.

I think the A's were Oates' decision, FWIW. At least that was how he made it sound.

Actually I thought mouthpiece # 1 was the rep. When he stepped down I think Chimera took over. Brouwer was an alternate while Chimera was overseas. A number of players were overseas or in Canada so it's not like there was a big choice. So it's really by default somewhat.
