I kind of don't want to see Granlund up here again this year. I just think he's not ready.

Like Russo said... look at who Vancouver has been playing at center for weeks and weeks now. They have tried very hard to get a center in a trade. Their inability to do so proves it's very hard to immediately go out and get a center unless you're boxed into a corner and give up too much.

I suppose we could trade for clowe and then roll a clowe-granlund/butch-seto line. Completely different dynamic though and echos failied experiments from earlier this year.
Butch isn't a center and lord knows he wouldn't be able to handle the physical aspect of it. I trust Granlund more to handle the physical side of the center role more than I do Bouchard, and that's saying something.

I agree. Bring up Larsson is my opinion.

Granlund needs more time in Houston.

Any chance we could go after Pominville? He is a really good player and plays center and RW.

If we don't want to call up Granlund we could move one of mitchell/Brodziak to 2C and fill in the 4th line winger with Dowell or something. Wouldn't be ideal but Mitchell has speed and isn't completely inept on offense.

Second that. Although I don't think it's about being ready, more about not playing his game.

Would take Pominville over any player dealt so far but the price would be far too steep to get him. We're talking Coyle + to get a guy like him. Would rather go after Stafford since his price wouldn't be as steep.

Why would you want to move Mitchell? He is fast, forechecks hard, plays the gritty game without being a complete liability offensively.

Here's our lineup then:

Parise - Koivu - Coyle
Bouchard - Brodziak - Setoguchi
Heatley - Mitchell - Clutterbuck
Rupp - Konopka - Dowell

Ugh.

UGH.

This is probably going to sound dumb but I would almost rather have Mitchell as the second line center. Not because of his skill but because, as seto and cullen have demonstrated, speed kills. It is one of the things that made the second line so dangerous in the first place.

Ugh is right though.

Yep, and Mitchell is clutch as hell.

Not bad thinking but two strikes IMO:

1. Mitchell has brick hands and overskates the puck A LOT. I can only imagine how much this would neutralize Seto and Bouchard. Granted Brodziak has brick hands too.

2. There is zero chemistry on that third line, so mixing it up can not be worse than it currently is.

I honestly don't love any of our lines, especially with Cullen out.

At least he goes 100%. You never know, he just might fire that 2nd line up again. Besides, Brodziak is slower, doesn't have hands either and has been unimpressive this season.

I think Granlund gets the call....and I'm crossing my fingers and toes that he looks better this time.

Yeah.

We almost have too many righties on middle six by the way. Mitchell, Brodziak, Seto and Clutter are all righties, and if Fontaine gets called up... Yeah, a righty too. One of them could fill Coyle's spot on the first and have Coyle play with Granlund. Just try it. Stick Mitchell on his wing or something.

If we call Granlund up this season, it should be to play wing. Don't put him in the middle again this season. I guess they haven't decided what to do yet, but one possibility would be to put Brodziak with Seto and PMB and call up Larsson for the 3rd line, if we want to keep the 4th line intact and not move Mitchell.

I'm convinced that all Granny needs to do is untuck the sweater and he'll catch fire.

Russo is speculating that it would be Larsson called up..not the FBJ.

I wouldn't mind that at all but it would make the second line pretty much non-existant.
