It basically looks like Vancouver, LA, San Jose, Minnesota and Toronto are in, too. Will make it even with poor records in final 10 games.

@BubbleWild48 I bet Wild make it with 2-6-2 record or better. Coyotes would have to go 6-3-1 to pass. It's possible...

I'm all for sitting Butch. However, if Heatley is done and put on LTIR, wouldn't we be given some flexibility cap wise to bring up Zucker? Or am I completely misunderstanding the rules?

The Wild could put Harding and or Heatley on LTIR and have plenty of cap space for Zucker, but they wouldnt be able to take either off until the playoffs start.

Long story longer- LTIR is really only an option for season ending injuries.

I can't see them doing that with Harding. He's still a question mark. But if Heater needs surgery...........

So I'm projecting 3.5 wins for Minnesota to get in, which rounds up to 4. There's still a little cushion between 7th and 8th.

And of course, Wild are two points back of Vancouver, so it's possible they can still get the division.

Look at the schedule the rest of the way:

MIN:
vs CHI
vs STL
vs CBJ
@ CGY
@ EDM
@ SJS
vs CGY
vs LAK
vs EDM

VAN:
vs PHX
@ CGY
@ COL
@ NSH
@ STL
@ DAL
vs DET
vs CHI
vs ANA

We have the favorable schedule, but it won't be easy.

FIFY.

The way I look at it, the Wild have 6 extremely "winnable" games left, to Vancouver having 5. The Wild have 6 of 10 remaining games at home, the Canucks have 5 of 10.

What concerns me are the last two games on Vancouver's schedule (CHI and ANA). Will those teams be sitting their top players to gain some extra rest? I think that's highly likely, and could possibly factor into the NW Division race.

Yeah it's real hard to tell. Both teams playing some bubble teams that will be fighting with their lives, both teams have eliminated teams late, who knows.

We like to play to the level of the team we are playing. I'm thinking we can make it, but division is a little more debatable.

I hope we keep rotating our bottom 3 Defensemen. Keep fresh legs out there and maybe cut down a few minutes on the top pairing would help our team overall. I thought Prosser and Stoner looked good vs CLB. I think above all we need to keep fresh legs back there and I think with Gilbert struggling, he, Stoner, Falk, Clark and Prosser are basically on the same level and pretty interchangeable.

Yeah. I thought Falk - Prosser had a pretty decent game, actually. Prosser especially, he looked surprisingly good. I don't think he gets enough credit around here, and I can see why (considering his past struggles), but many people were ready to give him for free before the season even started.

Prosser and Falk have been played decent this year.

It's Stoner, Gilbert, and Clark (the few times he played) that have been terrible over the last month.

This is all part of Fletch's plan to ink Pominville to an extension. Best way to convince him is to butter up to the wife.

Why does Pominville's wife have Parise's cell #? This could ruin any chance the Wild have of extending Pominville's contract.

I'm sure Zach's wife is wondering the same thing.

Could someone send me a link to today's Q&A from Russo? I can't access it myself due to that stupid popup that requires you to be a paid subscriber to the ST.

Power Rankings Round-up:

Bleacher Report #6
Quote:
After winning eight of their last nine, the Wild dropped three straight to St. Louis, San Jose and Anaheim before blanking Columbus.

Next week’s contests against Chicago and St. Louis are statement games for Minnesota, which has high expectations for the playoffs this year.
NHL.com #8
Quote:
Nicklas Backstrom put an end to a three-game losing streak with a 24-save shutout in Columbus on Sunday. The Wild are in an interesting spot -- two points behind the Canucks for the lead in the Northwest, but just six points ahead of ninth-place Phoenix.
CBSsports #9
Quote:
Good news: Their recent three-game losing streak didn't drop them out of the Northwest race. They're just two behind Vancouver. Bad news: That losing streak. They were outscored 11-3 in those games, all to playoff teams.
Fox Sports #9
Quote:
April hasn’t treated Minnesota so well. A 3-0 victory over the Blue Jackets on Sunday was Minnesota’s first in four games this month. In those first three games, the Wild averaged a goal a game in losses to the Blues, Sharks and Kings. The Wild will be without forward Dany Heatley for at least the immediate future after The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported he had shoulder surgery.
TSN #12
Quote:
Snapped a three-game losing streak with Sunday's shutout win in Columbus, but the Wild also lost a couple of veteran forwards to injury this week, effectively offsetting their trade deadline addition of RW Jason Pominville.
ESPN #13(up two? )
Quote:
The Wild halted a three-game slide with a decisive 3-0 win over Columbus on Sunday. The way Vancouver's going, though, it's going to be tough to dislodge it atop the division. Could these two Northwest teams be destined for a first-round matchup? The Wild play three at home this week.
Obviously the Wild aren't the #6 team like BleacherReport says, but the #12 or #13? Really? Can't agree with that.
