Not gonna lie, it has been way more comical to read than even the James Sheppard appreciation thread from back in the day

An Australian reporter interviews Konopka, who is apparently either Team Canada's Captain or Minnesota's Captain, not sure which. But he calls Konopka a Captain.

EDIT: Finished watching and it actually wasn't all that bad. But apparently Konopka is captaining either Team USA(?) or Team Canada in an exhibition game in Australia this summer. That's kind of cool to see.

Article from Russo about Zucker and playoffs stuff
Quote:
With fans and media “obsessed with playoffs, playoffs, playoffs” because the Wild hasn’t made it to the postseason since 2008, the Wild winger said Wednesday the most important thing for those inside the locker room is to not get caught up in the outside noise.

The Wild has hit the proverbial bump in the road. It has lost five of seven games and is only four points up on ninth place in the Western Conference.
Quote:
The Wild is so tight to the $70.2 million salary-cap ceiling, it can’t recall Zucker without reassigning another player. However, it could place Heatley or Josh Harding on retroactive long-term injury reserve to create the cap room, so that hasn’t been the issue.

The issue is you’re only permitted four non-emergency call-ups after the trade deadline. The Wild had to waste two to make Coyle and Darcy Kuemper eligible for the AHL playoffs.

Granlund is up on emergency recall for Heatley. If the Wild was to call up Zucker without reassigning Granlund, Granlund would be taken off emergency recall and the Wild would effectively hit the maximum four call-ups for the rest of the season.
More at the link above.

Third post in a row, sorry, but new news/notes. Pierre LeBrun tweeted about us, Nashville, and New Jersey this morning:

Quote:
There are certainly pitfalls to July free agency, no question. But when you look at NJ/Nash potentially missing the playoffs (con't)...
Quote:
after each team lost a franchise player to FA (Parise, Suter), and then look at Minny's rise with those 2 free agents on their roster...
Quote:
Crazy money no question those 2 contracts last July. But nobody is complaining today in Minny. Meanwhile, Devils/Preds can't fill that void

sorry to repeat myself: but Zajac and Henrique are way more important than Parise.

In his chat i asked Pierre if he thinks the Wild make the playoffs. He said they will.

There you go, Avder and other pessimists! Ha!

So we had this discussion on another place I chit chat with some good friends around the country that are hockey fans.

50/50 Tickets

I've been to a lot of games around the country. So far I think the highest i've ever seen was $17K at United Center for Game 2 of the Cup Finals. (sidenote: was 5 numbers off from that one too!!)

i've yet to ever see one in Xcel hit close to $8k. IIRC we have a limit of $10K for tax purposes here.

http://oilers.nhl.com/club/page.htm?id=33421

check that out.

Quote:
SAN JOSE VS. EDMONTON JANUARY 22, 2013 $160,355 $80,177.50
And from other sources, that isn't even the highest in the league this year

These are basically already playoff games what teams are playing so there are less fighting.

Needed one for a spark last night, and there were ample opportunities to try to start something but they didn't take them.

Still projecting the Wild in 7th, although expected points has dropped by nearly two this week. Their magic # for wins is still four...like it has been for about two weeks.

G/G down to 21st
GA/G still at 11th
Sh/G at 20th
PP% at 17th
PK% down to 12th

Like I said, everything going the wrong direction.

Clutterbuck well under his average as well.
Spurgeon's about the only non-rookie having a good year (aside from Cullen).

the other team would just do what carcillo did in the chicago game. Take liberties on our goal, then take a few shoves and draw a penalty. I swear, our team gets no respect when it comes to stuff like that. We get annihilated in front of their goalie, and just take it. We try to defend backs even just a little, or talk to the ref, we get hit with penalties.

Add in the fact that it's apparently been made known that it's ok to high stick the Wild without fear of penalty.

When you are already down two players it would have pissed me off if somebody had gotten a 5 minute major so i could just imagine what it would have done to Yeos blood pressure.

I saw somebody(Russo?) speculating on Twitter he could have just really badly pulled a muscle. It would not surprise me.

I have a feeling that come hell or high water Suter takes the ice tomorrow night. It makes total sense that he would skip todays practice and Yeo didn't sound concerned about it last night.

Until I see that 20 is missing from the game I am goint to remain optimistic about it.

I just hope next year our top 4 d is more well-rounded so we don't have to play our top 2 for 30 minutes a night.
