He moved to CA when he was 9 I believe, before his Jersey infection became incurable.

Some of you guys should read the Komisarek thread. He sounds like a solid player that hasn't been getting any icetime for some unknown reason. Hopefully, he'll clear waivers and DL can get him at a discount rate: Komisarek for Ellerby? Works for me.

He doesn't get ice time because TO has 6 better defensemen than him and so do we. His cap hit is astronomical too, which means nobody's gonna get him.

Most likely scenario is he plays for the Marlies until the summer, they buy him out and he gets an NHL job.

Guy just sucks playing rush hockey, no other way to put it. In a playoff series against the Habs or Penguins he'd be totally out of place. Pylon.

There is the possibility Dallas claims him because they need D badly and their cap is fine going forward. Forgot about them.

To me, a guy like Komi's situation is no different than a guy like Fraser, Purcell, Moulson...
The guy just needs a change of scenery and an opportunity.

Komisarek has not been the same player he once was after Milan Lucic broke his will.

I'm still not sold on Anaheim. They are a really good team and I don't want anyone to believe that I think differently, but they (at least in games I've seen from them) always seem to be down in the third and find a way to get it to OT. Those sort of games wont work for them in the playoffs.

They have 1, ONE, more regulation win than the Kings, yet are 12 points ahead in the standings.

Maybe, but we can't pick up every stray, and Dean may be working no something that is a better fit.

Fraser, Purcell, and Moulson were all making peanuts, not 4.5m

Who's saying pickup every stray. Komi fits the profile we're looking for in a dman. If we can get him at the half the price, I think it's worth the shot.

The major flaw I see with picking up Komisarek at half price is that such a move also entails Toronto committing half his contract to their cap next year. There is no reason for them to do that when buying him out commits no money to their cap next year.

I think they have wildly different reasons for waiving him than we are used to, because the Kings don't put themselves in positions to ever have to do this. It is simply common courtesy to waive the guy so he can play hockey for the rest of this season, preferably on their farm club. Then he won't get out of shape, and he will help their farm team until the end of the year. Also gives him the chance to play in front of other teams scouts for when he gets sent to FA in the summer.

Toronto won't eat half his salary, unless you're talking about re-entry waivers which no longer exist.

I'm so confused why everyone wants to pick up somebody elses trash just cause they have heard of them before. Every day it someone else...is the team not playing good enough for you???

Are you comfortable going into the playoffs without a physical dman, because I'm not. Greene may or may not return. And even if he does, we have no idea how effective he will be. Komi may be trash to you, but I don't share your view.

What's wrong with making the Kings a better team? Komi will obviously bring that.

Lol. You see Komi fighting Lucic as a bad thing. I see it as a tough guy taking on a tougher guy. If Nolan took on Lucic and got beat, I would applaud Nolan's effort, whereas, you would toss Nolan out like trash for getting his will broken by Lucic.

RH, I think you're hoping for something that isn't there. I'm not exactly sure where it's coming from either. What has Komisarek showed you to believe that he would help this team? Change of scenary is always a nice thing to bring up. But, not when it's costing you a lot of money.

Only if Nolan started playing like a bum after his ass got kicked would anyone do that to him. And it wouldn't be right, but that's sports.

I don't see anything in Komisarek that would help the team right now. The Komisarek who was a Hab, yes, that is a player we could use, but it's not there anymore. At a couple hundred K he's worth a shot, but millions just doesn't work.

Nah, I wouldn't say that. We've seen Clifford lose fights and I think highly of him. Lucic really did a number on Komisarek, to the point that many think that Komi isn't the same player he once was. Go ask Habs fans and Leafs fans.

The Leafs are 17th in the league in goals allowed per game. If they are waiving a guy like Komisarek, what does that tell you? He's only appeared in 4 games for the Leafs, a team that doesn't necessarily have the greatest depth as it is on their blueline. How would the Kings benefit from adding such a big cap hit to a player who is sparingly used?

Just having read the Komisarek thread on the trade board gave me the impression that Komi may be what we need. A RH SAH dman who has a physical presence. At one time he was a first pairing, so, he obviously has some skill, so, why not take a flyer on him? I agree, 4.5M is a hefty cap hit especially with all the pending RFA dmen we have but if he pans out, then he can replace Scuds for almost the same cap hit next year.

Oh, I don't know...we've waived Hickey and I'm pretty sure the Islander fans are pretty happy with that acquisition. We gave up a Purcell who was forced to play LW where he wasn't accustom to playing and we got rid of him and a low round draft pick for a rental scrub Halpern. So, there are circumstances in which a good player can't prosper for whatever reason.

edit:
And in regards to the 4 games that he did play this season, TO posters will tell you that he played well but for whatever reason, Carlysle decided to keep him as a HS.
