Running a 7 team tournament

I am running a men's tournament and we have a 7 team division to work around. Was curious people's thoughts on how to do it. Obviously a full round robin is out with that many teams. Right now, my plan is:

2 random round robin games per team with best PCT. determining seeding for the playoff round.

Playoff Structure debating 3 ideas.

1. Quarters: 1st bye, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5
Semis: 1st vs. 4th best seed remaining, 2nd best vs. 3rd best

2. Quarters: 1st bye, 2 vs. 5, 3 vs. 4, 6 vs. 7
Semis: 1st vs. winner of 6/7, 2/5 winner vs. 3/4 winner

3. Quarters: 1st bye, 2 vs. 7, 3 vs. 6, 4 vs. 5
Semis: 1st vs. choice of remaining, other teams left play each other

Trying to get creative with it but it's tough with 7.

Any thoughts?

First playoff format is probably the best.

As for round robins, I would give them three games each (since most tournaments give you that) if possible. Don't worry too much about "fairness" or an even schedule if everyone is making the playoffs. This way everyone gets 4-6 games which is ideal.

couple places for ideas

http://www.printyourbrackets.com/seededbrackets.html

seeding game 1

A B
C D
E F
G sits

seeding game 2

A G
B F
C E
D sits

seeding game 3

D G

playoffs

1 bye
2 v 7
3 v 6
4 v 5

then bracket 1 plays lowest and 2 other winners play off

everyone gets 3 games min

you can have a losers bracket after the 1st round with the 3 losers playing if you want to guarantee a 4th game
