Really depends on who acquires him. IMO. The team that pony's up has the opportunity to give him the extra year on his deal.

IMO you acquire him, you throw the bank at him.

I can only pray Toronto lands him. We have a ton of cap space opening up.

Doesnt seem like this decision is fully in his own hands. Very risky i must say.

He IS closer to Family if he comes down to Toronto

He won't re-sign with Anaheim right now.

But, I wouldn't be surprised if he re-signs in July.

I would put Ottawa up there among the top 3 destinations. You'd have to think the Murray connection is strong, the team has more than enough cap space, less media attention than the big cities, he is guaranteed to play with Spezza, they're a fast developing Contender and have the best defender in the league playing for them.

Really if both Getzlaf (extremely unlikely) and Perry hit the market, Detroit can offer both 7.5. In any event Detroit has the money to be very much players on one guy and with tinkering both.
Same with Montreal. Detroit might need D, no?

Question really is, who can afford financially, who has the cap, who has the assets to acquire. Lots of variables here.

It's going to be funny to see all the speculation from now until the deadline. Then from that to the draft and free agency
Well, I mean to trade for. But then again, I don't see why the Ducks would try to trade him unless they had a complete collapse.

I just feel even if the Flyers did try to improve their defense. They would have to tweak their system and I know Lavi likes his open system.

Also IF Anaheim does moves him by the deadline, he most definitely will be going east. No way they trade him in conference.

Listen, if he wants to play with Crosby, Malkin, and Iginla, he'll have to make some sacrifices.

Something tells me Anaheim isnt looking for picks... What do you guys need?

What about a deal centered around Kessel and Perry?

Not if they could sign those two, Detroit has quite a bit of D on the way, check out the front runner for CHL D-man of the year and a second guy that many people have called the best D-man in the Q for two years running. They can just do a stop gap for a year there, Ouellet really should make the team next year even with the way they like to do prospects that kid has little to learn at the AHL level.

Holland has long been enamored with Getzlaf, like I said I doubt he makes it. But unlike last summer where they wouldn't bid on Parise outlandishly to land Suter. They would actually give both these guys big offers because they are high on both of them and then make it work out later. I would still expect them to make a move on Perry before anyone else including d-man if assuming Getzlaf isn't out there. The most aggressive thing they pursued this past off-season was Nash, more was made available for him than for Yandle and JayBo.

I counter with ... why exactly wouldn't it make sense for Perry to go to LA, and really not have to move at all?

Sens would be highly interested I'd think.

Unsigned: Michalek, Da Costa, Conditional 1st (if we miss the playoffs this year, negated to next year) for Perry.

Signed: Michalek, Greening/Smith/Da Costa, Ceci, Phillips + 1st Perry + Lydman. Might do Da Costa + one of Greening/Smith.

Well i dont think they want to drop off the face of the earth either. At least getting Kessel keeps them in contention, vs trading for futures and sabotaging a great season. Not to mention Burke's love affair with Kessel...

Thats why I said Ennis, Foligno and a 1st

and our first could be huge so that might be too much, maybe a bluechip prospect instead
