Sorry didn't realize ROR couldn't produce points in the nhl, if only we had someone has good as Landeskog was last year to help him produce. Your overreacting we would most likely never end up with a top 5 pick why worry about what would have happened if we had a top 3 pick.

Did Tylersvt change his name?

Great move by Feaster. Maybe he works out an alternate trade with next years pick. If the team does flounder then hopefully Feaster moves the vets and snatches up some picks.

Guys congratulations. I'm only pissed that Darcy was not ballsy enough to make this move.

yeah, i guess it makes more sense for him to sign multi-year with less dollars than 6,5. I sure hope he's not a holdout in '14 though

assuming the avs don't match

We got a gem in Brodie, a 4th round pick. Maybe we'll get lucky again?

How about you just 'stop saying' this isn't Kessel.

O'Reilly offensive prowess is being overrated quite a bit on these boards. He managed 55 points playing first line ice time, PP time and alongside Landeskog.

For arguments sake, Stajan also managed to put up 55 points on the first line with the Leafs. Granted, he was 24 years old when he did it, but still, people need to be careful of over projecting O'Reilly's potential just because he's young.

well, he's going to get first lien time in Calgary probably as well as PP time, and no offense to Landeskog, but he's not a rookie like Ovechkin ir Crosby that was a dominant offensive power in his first year. I don't think Landeskog inflated his stats much, if at all.

You guys act like the only reason he got points was because of Landy.

They obviously helped each other a lot, but if this year is any sort of indication, O'Reilly helped Landy more than Landy helped him.

@Real_ESPNLeBrun: I canvassed execs on 5 NHL teams. 4 believed Colorado would match, 1 figured Avs would take the picks...
It'll be interesting to see what happens. Honestly, I'm hoping the Aves match. I don't see O'Reilly putting the Flames over the top for a playoff spot, let alone a Stanley Cup. Rather keep the picks and build through the draft.

Stajan wasn't really a #1 centermen saw more pk time than Grabo less pp and the same Es but was played against the other teams top lines. ROR played against top lines (effectively) saw around 2 minutes of pp time a game and over a minute of pk, considering that Av fans said he was their MVP last year hard to believe Lando was the player carrying him.

I'm kind of in the same boat. SUUCCHH a high risk if he signs here. But I remain on the fence I dunno.

Ifs and or buts and candy and nuts. Cant run a franchise on what ifs. As an organization you try to win and not lose hoping for lottery pick. Flames could finish dead last and still not get Mackinnon.

If the Avalanche don't match, and he plays for the Flames next year, he will be paid more than players like Giroux and Tavares. I think that's a lot of money, and hopefully he will be worth it.

Well, that saga ended quickly. Happy the Avalanche matched. Hopefully the Flames hold on to their picks now. That and actually add to them.
