LOL. Feaster tries to sell the future to make his below-average team better, and instead makes Colorado (who's second last in the WC) better now while screwing them over in the future. What a backwards way for the Flames to get exactly what they need. Or was it all a part of his master scheme?

do you have a single relationship you would avoid for 2.5M?

Isn't the team going to be pissed off at him?

Just like when P.K Subban took a while to sign.

it doesn't matter if Colorado negotiated the deal or not. Like type players on teh Av's will point to that contract when negotiating their own deal.

which team negotiated the actual contract is so secondary

gotta say credit to avs fans, they said they didn't like RoR at 5m before, and looking on their board, they are not trying to sugarcoat it now.

So, the Flames get bashed for "giving up a top 5 pick" for ROR, but now they're getting bashed because the Avs matched?

Do you people think before you type?

With qualifying offer being 6.5 mil next year, Colorado might have even more trouble next year. They will either have to pay him the 6.5, try to sign him long term, or let him become a free agent. ROR will have a lot if leverage next year.

If you want out of a situation, you do not sign an offer-sheet where you potentially commit yourself to that situation.

the relationship is/was not toxic.

There was a difference of opinion over his value. Nothing more, nothing less.

Ryan found a team that agreed with his position in terms of value and forced the Av's hand.
This he felt he was worth more then what the avs were offering. He was right obviously

So much this.

They agreed to and signed the deal, all that matters.

Wow a lot of hate for Sherman in here. I don't know whether to be surprised or amused. I hope O'Reilly plays his heart out every game. He deserves to be criticized after this mess.

ROR turned 22. He has a good 13 years of hockey left.

I can only hope that a pick between 8-15 becomes as good as ROR.

The Avs are coming out of this looking like suckers. They lose nearly an entire season of ROR for what appears to be absolutely no reason at all.

They're gambling that they can trade him at all. They can't trade him for a year after signing this contract, possible the trade deadline passes by next year before they can trade him. And then they would be required to offer him 6.5M as a QO if it got that far.

This confirms my suspicion that Sherman is the worst GM in the league.

Seriously, I get the part where his hand was forced, but if you're ok with giving him this much money, why the **** didn't he pay him this during the summer and avoid all this drama and souring relations with ROR
