Would have liked to have him, not too upset though.

In the end, the Avs really ****ed this one up. If O'Reilly is so valuable to them, why lowball him? All they've done is pay more and poison their relationship. Tsk tsk tsk...

Anywho, WHAT'S YOUR NEXT MOVE, FEASTER??

Or they can maybe try and trade him next year and let him be someone else's problem.

I can not believe how wrong you are. Actually you are always wrong about the Avs, watch a Western conference game before posting next time.

No, they lost 18 games of a season with ROR because ROR wouldn't sign before this point. Not because there's "no reason."

And to everyone else, if it turns out that he develops further and becomes a strong offensive player for them, why would he get dealt?

Yeah no way the Avs don't match that from a division rival. Absolutely no chance

Don't think that the Avs will have to offer him 6.5M
The player has to be qualified first.

Why what? That's good for them? I was being kind of sarcastic there. It was a forcing of the Avs hands.

They could but I think they wouldn't get much. The Flames put them in a tough spot next year.

TJ Brodie...

I know I know. HF hasn't told you about how good he is so it means he isn't any good.

I see a lot of Colorado fans happy all of a sudden, why? You guys tried to sign him for 5 years at about 17 million, now sign him for 1 1/3 years for 10 million and have a guy that doesn't want to be there and you cant trade him until Next March.

this...
Colorado's in a tough spot now if ROR struggles or runs into injury issues btw now and next spring.

if they weren't comfortable giving him the 5M$ he wanted now, how comfortable are they going to be giving him 6.5M$ in a year from now if he's struggling?

hard to understand what they were thinking not signing this guy sooner given how quickly/easily they matched the offer. Created a lot of unnecessary friction and tension for everyone in their organization for nothing.

about the only positive out of it is the fact that they are closer to a lottery pick right now, but watch ROR's impact be enough for them to just miss the playoffs and end up picking in the teens.

would not be impressed with my GM right now if I was the owner (or, perhaps it was the ownership that stepped in and forced managements hand in not letting him get plucked by a rival franchise...)

All this means is that either Colorado really wants to keep him or the Avs organization think Calgary is better than 99% of HF does

Read about the situation a little more. It wasn't that he didn't want to be here. There was a disagreement about his value. He loves the team and city and fans (unless he's been lying). He just wanted more than 3.5 mill a year. If he really wanted to leave Colorado he would've just waited for a trade.
