I think this game pretty much shows getting a shiney new winger for this team would not change them. Team needs something big done to them. As for what? i hope it's a new coach, because even with a trade they would still play this way under Bylsma. They need to do something soon, as in within the next couple weeks. It's a short season. It could also do us wonders, like when we first got Bylsma and dominated, and won the cup.
This game is 8-1 after two without Fleury standing on his head half the night. Scary . . . he gives up four, and he's the biggest plus out of the lot.
I love when fans do this. "If we count every good scoring chance the other team had as a goal, and don't do the same for our team, and don't count the 3 posts we hit as goals either, we'd have gotten blown out!"
We were thoroughly outplayed in this game. You can say that. No need to get all hyperbolic.
+Sid. Ripping the team in his own way to the media after the game. It isn't Therrien, but it's better than nothing. Only forward consistently getting back for the breakout other than, I think Vitale.
+Cooke. Good on the forecheck. Won wall battles everyone else was losing.
~goaltending
~Vitale. At least he works.
~Dupuis. One bad turnover. Good game other than that
-Neal. He loses every battle that smaller guys win and can't accept a pass to save his life
-everyone else
Also, why the Hell was the goalie out of the net when we're down 4-1 with 40 seconds left?
I'm sorry but Sid can **** off until he shows a pulse of his own, and I love Sid.
The frustrating part is that he has the ability to bring what Kunitz brings. He used to do it when he first came into the league. He used to forecheck like a beast.
As you know, I live in Dallas. Here's what happened: In, I think, his second season, he boarded someone (I forget who) and got suspended for it. He never forechecked the same way again. The guy has become a Canadian Petr Sykora with a little more size and less creativity.
In that case, I hope Shero is on the unemployment line with him. Sorry, but Bylsma is Shero's guy now. This roster-- this soft, identity free roster-- is Shero's roster.
Bortuzzo looked awful
Nisky was just as bad
Seriously, I wouldn't mind never seeing Tanner Glass in the lineup ever again.
- Despres not being in the lineup. He better be in vs Monreal.
I think it is time to move Orpik, picks, and prospects for some offensive depth.
If this team could have played defense for at least the last 20 seconds of the first and second period, we may have had a chance at the Win. But seeing our effort the entire game, we really didn't.

O'k, it would have been 8-3. Better? Really, if you look at number of times the goalie was hung out to dry, whether or not the other team scored, then this one was WORSE than the Islanders debacle.
Well I already accepted the loss when it was 4-1, but then they had to really piss me off with Crosby and Neal missing on a handful of goals. At lead pad the damn stats
Chill Ward played well. Pens had chances even tho they played like garbage as a whole.
Pretty much this. Fleury, for all I knock him, is capable of making a team look much better than it is.
For the time being the Penguins are still leading the division. That give Shero time to see things play out. I'm not looking forward to the next 2-4 weeks on this board
Shero doesn't need 2-4 weeks to know how this is going to play out. One and done.
This is what happens when you draft just about zero players with legit potential NHL offensive talent, and completely neglect a gigantic hole or two on this team for multiple seasons in a row.
Because he fell into the same trap that unfortunately snares a ton of message board posters here:
"We have Sid and Geno, the rest will just work itself out"

Agreed. Shero inherited the 2 greatest players in the game and won the cup with them. He has made decent trades, but did little to nothing to help this team in the draft offensively. For god sakes one of Crosby's wingers for 4 straight years is a guy who was a throwin during a trade for hossa. Dupuis has been great, but he'd be better on a third line.

Breakouts are a big problem with this team and he's the only guy who gets back to offer the D options instead of hanging out flat footed waiting for a hail mary the D can't make and the forward doesn't have good enough hands to catch. Hell, I saw Sid freelance and decide to use the Gomez breakout once and we got a shot out of it.
Besides, every zone possession of his line died on James Neal's stick. Or, more accurately, his skate blade after he booted an easy pass to the hurricanes.
