I agree. This team has some roster issues which need to be addressed. A solid third wheel for Malkin's line is of the utmost importance. That line hasn't done anything 5 on 5 all year and we won't go far in the playoffs if that's not resolved.
Neal is not a primary linemate for a top 6 center at this point. Not moving his feet. Invisible at ES.
Maurice. at least he's coached a 1000+ NHL games and knows how to use Malkin.
Muller is the coach of the team that just kicked our ass.
I'm certainly not sold on Muller so far. The Canes are doing well because they have two top lines that keep the puck in the O zone away from a pathetic D and hot and cold goalies. Special teams are anything but special at this point.
I couldn't possibly hate our 4th line any more than I currently do.
This team, with the way it wants to play, needs to have a big and punishing 4th line who can wear out teams. I'd be perfectly fine with moving Vitale to the 3rd line, getting rid of Kennedy, and waiving Adams, then getting a whole lot bigger and meaner on our 4th line.
Canes fans are allowed ot comment as long as they're constructive about it. Nothing wrong with them defending their team as long as they're not trolling or cutting someone down.
Personally I agree they're not as bad as some here make them out to be and we aren't as "elite" as some imply, either. Our total lack of consistency and inability to gain a lead and put teams away should be proof enough of that. Having elite talents on the roster doesn't mean the team as a whole qualifies.
And you don't think adding Kunitz, or a similar type player might resolve that?
I think it would because a player like that would allow both Malkin AND Neal to play to their respective strengths, just like Kunitz did last year, just like Talbot (who morphed into Malone 2.0) did for Malkin and Feds during the cup run, and just like Malone did for Malkin and Sykora.
